In the early 1990's, Yellow tried to start up a regional carrier of their own. It was to be Yellow Regional, totally union. The Union would not get behind this idea because Yellow wanted to make the top out pay $1 less per hour than Yellow long haul. The Teamsters screwed themselves out of thousands of new employees paying union dues, all over $1 top out pay. Yellow went on to buy Saia and the rest of the sad story is history as they say. I have always thought that this was one time the company actually had a great idea and the Union was too hardheaded with the Union stance. I was just thinking "what if" that had taken place. Where would we be today(all of us).
