ODFL | 34hr 1-5 am rule might be going away

Thank god. I'm on reset now. I should've been back home before midnight last night but instead I was brought 83500 lbs gross on a meet. Had to stop in Birmingham to get it right and was back at 3 am. Instead of being able to start at 5 Friday it's now 5 Saturday. How stupid. Now if they'd work on the ignorant 30 minute waste of time...

I never liked the new rule change. But,now this will be bad for all the new hires. Why???Well, look at all the new driver's everyone has hired to cover the new HOS law's.Well,if they go back to the old way. Then company's will not need all the driver's.Just saying. Is this another government cover up????UMMM!!!

The 30 minute rule was dropped for local drivers. However your company may still enforce it.

And that 34 hr restart rule blows...Line drivers couldn't make an extra run on the weekend if it was available, as you'd have to run on recap the next week.

Well, if 34 goes back to old way. Will work every other Sunday again. There's always work. Seems not many want to work. Was doing 1/2 Sundays, term to break and return., yet got tired of doing old style waiting for hours to return and losing certain longer leg options due to working that 1/2 night to get our extra early Monday freight.

Well, twice this spring, cut due to weather, yet didn't run weekend due to 168 hr rule and screw up runs next week and restart. If daytimer it doesn't matter too much, only those who run between 1 to 5 am get no flexability.

It would be nice to go back to the old 34 hr rules. Is ODFL line haul drivers using electronic logs or is it paper logs?

That's Great!...I'm a fan of e-logs. I may becworking for OD soon. Do you boys us Qualcomm or People Net?

They use PeopleNet. I caught a glimpse of the new Blu systems and they have mini keyboards integrated in to the unit, below the screen. I think a lot of people will like them!
