FedEx Freight | Teamsters Roll Call...Who's getting the ball rolling?

I may be wrong, (not likely) but I thought I had read that we are self insured for medical with Cigna and Aetna being administrators. Ask your wife if the company would still be in the dark as to costs for employees by age demographic.

they know exactly what they pay for each of our medical claims. Don't we still get the letter that says what your "compensation package" costs the company every year?

The organizing needs to start in memphis, if it gets high praise and good numbers in cards getting signed, then all other terminals shall follow the home office barns. Good luck fellow drivers. Godspeed

Without much doubt, the Atlanta region would be in, I think. At the very least it is a prime (ripe) target.

If the southern boys go I think it would send a message across whole company. We have to be united or this will fail! All major hubs need to go! Dallas,Atlanta,Nashville,Louisville Indianapolis,Chicago,Kansas city, little rock, Orlando,NHS etc!

Didn't support union yrs ago but I'm tired of being lied too and smacked in the face!

Nashville is a work in progress..

:TR10driving03: Never in the golden days of AF would I have voted for a union. Sheridan took care of us and we took care of him. That concept is DOA with FedEx Freight. They could care less. Hurry, Hurry, Hurry is all I hear. For the folks I work with we are required to work the dock. We are burnt out being glorified dock hands with a CDL. It seems anymore at WME that cut times don't mean a dang thing but heaven for bid you are late getting back home and CSM is bent because they are requiring the freight to hit the streets sooner. I am tired of being tired every day, struggling to make it back to the center at a reasonable time. Being penalized because certain centers don't send their drivers to cover their bid or work the dock. What few kick outs we have WME runs their driver and we are doing our time as they say on the dock.

As happens at my center, central cuts shuttle runs and then has to figure out how to get freight back into my yard.
Here's a hint central, sometimes you have to bite the bullet and run a set of empties to the hub to cover the return freight.

Just some FYI for you guyz is that work rules or work language in your contract is voted on by the members. Having a voice and respect on the job is a high value price in my book. Just take a look at the trucking craft as a whole with the changes going on. This profession used to be a career, but now corporate america wants it to be a just a job. They will try to treat you like its just a job and not a value to the company to make your livelihood a career. If you're someone with seniority and close to retiring they will make an extra attempt to single you out to fire you, cause without protection they can do that. They'll call it a victory for the management when they can get rid of someone with high tenure cause they won't have to pay out that retirement.

Food for thought is the cliche' "just be glad you have a job" has been a trendy management throws around in meetings to which I always reply to them;
I'm here to work and get paid for a career, not for just to be glad to have a job cause even slaves had jobs and I'm not here to be one.

Thanks for your time fellas and I'm there for your support as I'll take it off the air for you guyz.

We have a couple of guys within 2 and 4 years before retiring and management is making their life a living hell, they and the rest of us drivers have seen it before. They will use anything against them to try to fire them or get them to quit. They have done it before to other senior drivers. These guys are walking on glass, more so than the rest of us. Part of the negative, aggressive management culture to keep it's "slaves" in line. Scare tactics.

On the other end of the spectrum... Newbees being rushed/pushed and they don't know any better. They pick up over weight trailers without question. If they do say anything, they're told to take the "back way" to the yard and hurry up! Dispatch calls them on their personal phones (while driving), one guy is on suspension for missing mandatory lunch (between 3rd-6th hour) for the 6th time in less than 180 days. The list really is endless... And these new guys have never heard of the In-touch Hotline to report concerns and remain anonymous (1-866-423-3339), or even how to contact H/R or safety... 2 different center managers have told veteran drivers that calls to H/R should be done on "your own time" (which is incorrect, by the way). Sad but true...

I don't understand this. Look at the other union carriers. They make less than us after the give back. Why would I want a union?

Huh? That argument in null and void.Read the UPSfreight contract. http://teamster.org/sites/teamster.org/files/1614upsfta1414ver3.pdf

In my area they make over $3.00 more per HOUR and pay half what we do for better insurance.Dues are said to be 2.5 x hourly per month. Why would you not be wiling to pay $60-$65/month for something even remotely close to that? Not to mention working conditions.

Your position is fine, but based on flawed numbers.

Work rules that mgmt. can't ignore just cause you missed a pickup or delivery yesterday and pissed off your dispatcher. The best healthcare plan anywhere , not just in freight at no cost to you. Seniority that counts so when you've put in " your time and paid your dues", they can't just give your good route to some guy that's been there 6 months that they like better than you because he's a butt kisser. The ability to turn down forced overtime after 10 hrs of peddling. You have NO say in anything at your barn unless you are union. You get what they give you, when they decide to give it to you - just like your dog. No offense intended, but that is the reality if you are honest with yourself. Not to say the unions don't have problems, but at least we have a say in something.

How dare you question the decision of a college graduate with a shiny degree in cosmetology???

Can I be understanding this correctly ? Are the hard working people at freight thinking of voting a union organization into our midst ? Who was it that said their fine management were hounding the city p & d drivers to no end ? This is the norm at my center now...push,push,push. Day after day ....constantly sending snotty messages over the brick and finally sending one to say "call me" so they can tell you something over the phone that they cant say on the handheld. My Father was always a strong union man but his son wasn't. How proud he would be now to hear me say "where do I sign up?" Its good to be back on the air again my Brothers...hooty out and to the mancave to drink a cold one.
