FedEx Freight | Teamsters Roll Call...Who's getting the ball rolling?

You can get everyone involved... drivers, dockworkers, mechanics, office personnel... stop being treated like **** and be treated like a human being. Corporate america thinks they can walk all over people and discard them at will. A good union will not let that happen. Don't flush all of your hard work down the toilet because some 20 something year old supervisor didn't like how you got out of a tractor or wants to castrate you because you didn't sign a delivery receipt correctly. Teamster benefits are worth their weight in gold. Now a days, this alone is worth the price of admission. You guys need to take a stand. Hey Conway drivers, are you listening to this??? You know they are....

Questions:
What locations are voting? Are they voting now? This weekend? Is it a secret for a reason?
What is the actual process getting the opportunity to sign a card/vote etc. 1st step, then though the whole process.

Someone who knows should start a new thread on that subject alone, to avoid the facts getting mixed up with the debate... It would be educational and, I think, helpfull!

Either you are management or aren't smart enough to realize the benefits the UNION has to offer.

My user says it all I'm a redshirt, member of leadership. I too am upset and feel the need to have something to back me up or protect me. Not very happy with the current situation. (Hint: im not making the call to have mr union killer visit us at ***)

There use to be a ton of good redshirts in my barn I would go the extra mile for. Now there are 2! The rest have been fired for younger people for half the pay or the ones that are left are real jerks! Either the stress has changed them or they changed so they could move up! Not to mention the upper management that is so morally corrupt I can't believe FedEx lets the be the face of company!!

Like I've said in the past I was firmly against union! I just wanted to work and go home. Fedex has made coming to work miserable! If the union doesn't get in I'm leaving but I am not walking away from 20yrs without giving it a good effort to get a safety net for me and my brother's and sister's at FedEx! Union has had it's bad days but in my eyes FedEx has proven to be 100 times worse!

To all my coworkers. Now is your time to say enough! If you don't it can and will get worse! If you don't want to sign a card or join a union I respect your decision and will not have any harsh words for you.

WE HAVE TO BE BETTER THAN FEDEX OR WE ARE NO BETTER THAN THEM! If someone doesn't want a union or a card shake their hand and tell them thanks for listening and if they change their mind come see you. We have to show people we care and not push our agenda on them or we will alienate them. FEDEX has shown their true colors now it's time to show ours UNITY!

I don't understand this. Look at the other union carriers. They make less than us after the give back. Why would I want a union?

For protection of your job! FedEx can terminate you at any time for no dam real good reason if they care too. With a Union you have recourse, and properly a lot better of a medical plan that FedEx has now that really Blows!

I cant believe what I am reading I am a new hire going on my 4 week and I don't want to go to work. I thought I was the only one being treated like a redhead stepchild I have never worked for a company that treats its workers so bad I am sorry that I left my old job to come here I am a short timer here

Welcome to the boards. Here you will find comfort in the fact that you are not alone. Hang in there and hopefully relief will be forthcoming.

Boy I haven't been on this forum for quite some time, but I received an email referencing this thread. Imagine how surprised I was to read so many Fedex employees talking union. My case is a little different from ralph6972. I have been retired 11 years. My pension and Social Security add up to $58,000 annually. Had I not taken the wife option I would be making an additional $5,000. Had I no taken my Social Security at 62 I would be making more, but 58 grand ain't too bad. Also I have Kaiser for my health insurance and it is very reasonable because it was negotiated through my union. Anyway I am totally different after a few years of retirement. I am more conservative than Rush Limbaugh. How do I know? because I listen to him, Hannity, Ingraham(love her), Lou Dobbs, Cavuto, you name it. I despise Obama and would vote for Dr. Ben Carson in a heartbeat. If you don't know him, check him out, NOW! In spite of all this I still have nothing against the union. But like ralph says the problem with the union is there are way too many deadbeats stealing a paycheck, feeling entitled and doing nothing to help keep their employer profitable. You know businesses are started and run for the express purpose of making money providing goods and services for the populace. If you are fortunate enough to get a job with the company of your choice, it is your responsibility to do your best every day for you, your family and your company. I don't care if it is Fred Smith or whomever, they are the ones who put their butts on the line to start these companies and provide thousands of jobs for you and me. If you don't respect that, then get your butt out and find something else. Good luck! But that doesn't mean that you should not expect to be treated like a human being. You should be fairly compensated for your labors and, in return, you should do the best job possible.

If you cannot attain fair treatment, then, by all means, you should consider union representation. No matter what you hear about unions, I'll assure you that all my business agent ever told us was to just do our job. He never told us to milk it, show disrespect for our supervisors or suck-up. But, as I stated before, there are union "brothers"(what a crock) who do all of these things, just like there are fellow employees at your company who do the same. It ain't a perfect world. It may be hard to live with these folks, but I think it is probably easier to do so with the protection of a contract. I know I would never have survived without that document, but I was pretty darned independent. Nevertheless I always did my job, for my customers and for my own self respect. People who don't do so have no self respect and, as far as I'm concerned, they can go screw themselves, because that isn't the American way.

Anyway, good luck. I hope things work out well for all of you. Like lowlife Bill Clinton said, "I feel your pain". I really do, I've been there.

larry retired

Thanks for the words of wisdom for some of the younger drivers here that still need to work a few more years.
I plan on joining your retirement status soon if not yesterday already. :LMAO:

42 years behind the wheel takes a toll on all our bodies.

:shift:

It's not just drivers or dock workers that are fed up with all this new BS that is being pushed. Our health insurance is worthless, plus we are forced to treat our people like defendants in a court trial. We are supposed to back each other against anything that does not have a red shirt. God forbid you refuse to follow their lead because of your principals, you will become the blacksheep and start getting letters to file(write ups) for anything. Thats the reason I dont want to keep moving up at FedEx. Its absurd.

I believe FedEx going union would just be the beginning for all LTL to get back to pre-1980 strength... There is a long road ahead of all of us to get the respect and wages we all deserve for a dangerous job and getting more dangerous every year... I believe Conway would be next and on and on. There is strength in numbers. That means we can change the weak union by our vote...

Guys at my barn are all in agreement. We're not looking to be lazy, or crazy money or free benefits. We want job security against fire happy managers! We want to do our jobs as expected an go home and start all over next day.

Not look over our backs all day or night for some safety guy or manager who is on roof with binoculars and a radar gun trying to catch guys going over 15mph or missing 3 pt stance or grabbing dolly wrong. Instead of managing the company or hiring people to help move the freight. People are miserable here but have invested yrs and don't want to walk away! Myself included!!

As it is now, a manager can pull you into his/her office and say and do anything they want. They will never cop to treating you like a piece of crap. However with a Union, you get to have a witness. Now, they will not allow one because that would make them act civil and have the "s" together before they call you in. They will also have to show their paper trail. As it is now, what they say will be uncontested because management has to stick together to pound down the people who actually do the work. For some reason, they hate us. It would be nice to have some backup.

Laws or No Laws. "The defendant must have the intent to use the illicit recording to commit a tort of crime beyond the act of recording itself." When I found myself in a situation which could have been detrimental to my sanity and/or employment, I always carried around a tiny recorder which would fit in a shirt pocket.

You think that does not happen at UPS?

I am not a FedEx employee so I cannot answer about the specific FedEx terminals that are doing it or contemplating doing it. What I can tell you is this... each barn needs to get together and make the determination if its worth it and then I would suggest one or two drivers approaching the local Teamsters Union and speaking to the business agent there. The business agent will answer all of your questions and guide you through the process. It will be tough at first getting everybody on board and trying to sift through all the pros and cons but in the end I believe most of you FedEx guys will think it is worth it. All it takes is for one terminal to make it happen and then all the rest should follow suit. In my opinion, I think fedEx has been counting down the days until this eventually happened. I would send some private messages to some of the other FedEx drivers on here and get some information. Knowledge is power right now and there is power in numbers.

I could not have said this any better myself. This person speaks the truth. Go for it FedEx and do not look back!

You guys (and gals) need to contact your local halls and express interest in obtaining facts about organizing. They need to know that there is enough interest to be worth their time. Everyone can talk about organizing all day long but not a damn thing will get done unless people get off their butts, pick up the phone, and voice their concerns.

You think that does not happen at UPS?

Oh, this does happen at UPS.........No doubt, But I guarantee you will not be fired or written up for this foolishness. That's the job security your looking for. Soon these young management trainees with all that power that goes to their heads realize that its just not worth messing with a bargaining unit employee because in the end it costs the company money and the employee usually wins unless he/she is a constant repeated offender.

Hey guy what part of what I wrote don't you get.just stating a fact I'm all for organizing this is probably the best chance ever because in the past you couldn't get 2 people to stick together.but you must not comprehend what you read

I need a refresher so apologies if this is redundant: how many cards need to be signed initially, I assume its a % of workforce, before a vote for unionizing can take place?
