FedEx Freight | Teamsters Roll Call...Who's getting the ball rolling?

Until they change the classification of FedEx which I dont beleive it will ever happen the Teamsters are not going to spend any amount of money to organize FedEx.

FedEx freight is a freight company it is entirely different than express. We are Not under the railroad act.

That means it will have to happen within. I believe UPS wages and benefits are closer to what all drivers deserve and even our wages is not enough for what we face out there on the road day and night.

But you guys can make a difference by demanding a better contract and work rules that benefit the drivers instead of hurting them and benefiting the company. Clear cut language about contractors and how

much they can use. But if the majority of FedEx drivers are happy with the way things are going God Bless you. I would rather see FedEx nonunion than to have a contract like UPSF...

Even if you had your facts straight about NLRA and RLA classifications of the different divisions of FedEx....you might be in for a big surprise in the near future as to just how much money the IBT is about to put into this.

I feel the IBT didn't push the issue because it stood to lose more than it benefited. Nowadays, with FedEx being it's own biggest promoter for a union, the IBT seems pretty receptive to our concerns.

You cannot unify a group of men in this day and age. You have to have structured people that are aware of what is going on. I was in the Teamsters for over 30 years and I saw the same thing there. Men cannot agree at any time as there are always people who do not understand labor laws etc. and create their own ideas that will not fly. I feel for both sides of you and trying to make decisions. It is always tough to make changes that both the companies and labor agree on. Research this in the fullest and go from there. Don`t do any infighting as that is not a good thing. Stick together and get a good leader that can negociate with both the companies and men. You see how our government is doing. They cannot do anything right either because of the dividing lines that will not budge. Good luck to all.

Man this makes me somewhat wish I was still there. We couldn't even get the Union to call us back a few years ago. Good luck guys and gals you'll need it.

By the way Chicago almost went Union back in 06 or something. Corporate came in and gave pay raises to get them to not.

I been a union member all my life. At the age of 65 damn glad. I look back the pass 40 yes. I had to count on the union 2 times to fight for me. A bad boss I don't care who you are their well be somebody that well not like you. You be glad you are represented. Don't for get the health care the list is a lot longer. We do give back 15% even that we had a choice. You have no choice in anything like the man said look think what is best for my family good luck to FedEx.

so far all this union stuff has been all talk and no action......I talk to other drivers and they don't know and they don't care!

won't sign........!!

I for one don't feel the need for the unions. Most of the guys at our terminal that want a union are the slack off type that just want to milk the clock more and not have to worry about getting in... !

Well the guys at our center that are pushing for a union are the ones that take hour naps and take forty minutes to get to the terminal when they are 5 minutes away! Yup those are future union...

keep the damn Union out! Only lazy people want a union! !

I keep getting hounded by a driver where I am at to go with him to the Union hall and listen to what they have to say and keeps bugging me for my address so the union guys can come over to talk to...

I think if the Union came in, FedEx would cut workers! Those guys working the dock and getting pissed off might be out of a job if we go union! FedEx is not gonna pay hundreds of guys across the... !

I think you have made your opinion of the union and anybody that wants one in quite known. So with what you have said here why would anyone want to talk to you about it or trust you enough to do so in the first place? Also It's quite apparent there will be no action on your part other than to denigrate it or anyone involved with it. I just know that a lot of Viking, AF and Watkins employees had the opportunity to work for a company that treated their people like somebody and didn't have overbearing and ridiculous policies like this one does... Many of us felt like we were a part of something great . I guess you missed the train of that one....You've been with the company for what... 8 years? Maybe you did miss the train after all.....Just know this, despite your obvious dislike of the union, you don't nor would you ever make what you do without the sacrifice and bravery of those that got the union involved in this industry to begin with. And mister they sure as hell weren't lazy and slackers and they united together to accomplish that, I imagine you would feel like you do even back then.... that's sad.

Wow! Your opinion was almost believable, till that one. So your center is already at the voting stage? No? Why would anyone try to get you involved with your clearly defined opinion? You're story sounds like it's dramatized for prime time.

This one is a little unrealistic as well:

How ya figure? If they thought they could cover the freight with less drivers they wouldn't be hiring whoever/wherever they can. Still they struggle to cover the freight...

What's happening to our lovely FEDEX is the economy is getting better an PT are getting better rates out there so they aren't renewing their contracts with FEDEX for those nickel and dime rates they were offering!

We had a PT just quit at the end of contract and we were running 4 or 5 extra board off hub to get the freight moved! I couldn't help but laugh my butt off!!

BTW...the guy that was all up about the union in our yard quit.....so I am happy he is gone. ANd other drivers I talk to don't come to this board cause they have lives......so they don't know what I post on here! You guys have alot of time on your hands if you can go back and look at every post I have posted about the unions on this board!

So Cal,
How many times did you have to watch that anti union video to get that "I keep getting hounded....blah blah...wants my address blah blah" line down verbatim?
Did they let you take it home or did you clock into education for six hours to watch it?
