You are right. On company property we have little to no rights, but anyone that's determined to make a change will do whatever is nessesary. Schedule and show up for meetings on weekends. Go to peoples houses if nessesary. Whatever it takes. I don't understand why people think that just because we are truckdrivers we are some how uneducated hillbillies. Do you think that we really thought that this was going to be easy? I'm sure that Conway will pull every trick in the book, if or when we win representation. We'll have to cross those bridges when we get to them. I think every one in this company is well aware of the companies stance on Unions. Why do you think so many people are afraid to even mention the word. All your doing is using scare tactics to try to persuade other people from taking a stand. Just like when these threads started 3 weeks ago. Doom and gloom was predicted from the 1st post that was made. Gates were going to be locked and employees were going to be fired. Well, here we are 3 weeks later. We are all still here and the gates are open. Management has been very quiet on the matter so far. There are federal laws that protect our rights to organize. They know that. We are not going away. This isn't going away. We will not lay down like sheep anymore.

That's probabaly because management isn't worried about your litte band of rebels doing the rest of the company any great harm. Why don't you just stop this effort while you still have your jobs.

Mmmm..SHEEEEP

nobodyinparticular you are correct enough is enough its just a matter of time and the employees will ban together and vote in the teamsters im sure the people against us checked the law and are verrry mad to find out we have the law on our side.

if any one here thinks that going union will mean we no longer care about the custermer because the union promotes lazziness think again bringing in outside people what do they care, i have wittnessed it first hand how the temps handle our custermers freight our claims proved it the drivers care more than alot of fos's there under pressure yes, but the custermer comes first without them none of us have a job at conway.

From the outside looking in it appears that a few people here have their dandruff up already!! I see a lot of back and forth and what appears as a manager in my mind quoting from some company propaganda. Pop Quiz now that is a new one must be a Con-Way thing.
I urge you all to do yourself s right and find the truth before you commit to any side.
From one that has been on both sides of the fence as of late you need to pay very close attention to what will happen as far as YOUR pension !!!! If they will not put it on paper their are probably not telling the truth. Come on now would anyone want to be in the Central States Pension Fund ?
You can drive around for 30 years collecting a check that feeds your family well and be all smiles. But when the day comes you can not work like you did when you were 21 what you going to do ? And do not tell me about your 401 because most have put little to nothing into one. The majority of freight people have lots of aches and pains, health problems brought on by years of body abuse and do not realize it till much later in life. Jumping out of trailers, lifting to much, handling hazardous materials, breathing hazardous fumes and back injury's that ruin your life and your family's. How are you going to provide when your hurt ??
Education for both sides is a good thing.

You sound like the Emperor in Return of Jedi talking to Luke Skywalker about how his miserable little rebellion was no threat to his death star. That "little band of rebels" blew up the death star and saved the Universe from evil. Long live the rebellion, long live the good side of the force, nothing worth having is ever easy to get.

:shift:i do not understand lets all vote an see how many think we should organize stop being a scaredy cat so they shut the doors then they dont have a job and if they did shut the door i could use the time off anyways pack up the harley an go on a road trip

BWAHAHAHAHA..... my first though after reading that post

:burnsauce:come on get the cards up north maybe are tm will use one set of rules then i dont care if it cost fifity dollars a week geter done

$50/week? when I was at top scale at Yellow dues were 62/month. but then again I didn't pay for the kick ass insurance I got, or the pension payments they made. here I am paying $106.50/week for insurance and no pension or 401K contribution. you do the math on that one.

Typically monthly Union dues are calculated at two and one half the hourly pay rate,...

Nope, out of the question. A better solution was divulged to me by some of my smarter co-workers right here on this forum. If worried about retirement - Plan Better. And maybe work a couple more hours everyday.

I hope you are being flippant and my sarcasm meter is out of whack, that or you are a glutton for punishment.

Well, I was being treated for some sort of masochistic syndrome that controlled the way I liked to be treated, but my health benefits don't cover it anymore. Like many of my fellow Conway drivers, I enjoy having things taken away from me; ripped from my clutches. Oddly, few of my coworkers want to start a support group. We just lean on our leaders for consolation and guidance. In a nutshell, it brings me great pleasure to feel these violations as often as possible.

In the play, Oliver, the young and orphaned lead asks "Please sir, may I have some more". That's me, except I am asking for another kick in nuts.

Why you ask. I don't know. There is just an almost sexual gratification when I am put into my place. Last time I sold a car, I got no good feeling because the buyer gave me asking price and the cash was not counterfeit. HOWEVER, the car before that was very exciting, titillating, and, and, and, I think I am becoming a little aroused now........He Wrote ME A BAD CHECK!!!!!!

YES! YES!!! YES!!!!!

Go to meetings on weekends, go to people's houses. Now I thought you wanted more time to spend with the family? Your willing to waste all this time and not even get paid for it. Good luck. haha

Why did you leave the job at Yellow? Tell us, please.

it will pay off in the end. maybe people won't be forced into anymore 14 hour days, or you will get your 401k back. what would you have to say if that happened?

P****** up a rope!

First off, I have no pony in this race.
I am retired Conway.
If you have read my posts, I was not retired by choice.
I do not believe that the upper office will ever go Union for the Drivers.
They will shut down Terminals, etc. etc.!
Conway has more $ than they have sense.
I have great respect for those of you who want to go union, I just don't see it happening, not without great personal sacrifice.
From my 22 years at Conway, I don't see it happening.
In my opinion, just suck it up, do your job, and you will be OK.
They will drag out any union vote until it is dead!
REMEMBER:
THEY have unlimited funds!
WE gave it to them.
Shame on us.
As I stated, I have no pony in this race..............
I think you are P****** up a rope!
The best to you, longtimeltl.
