We were informed that we are going to start shotgun loading our trailers and starting everyone an hour or so earlier. The reason for this is they want 75% of the freight on the street by 0900 and 95% delivered by noon. How in the world are they expecting this to happen??? Any other centers get this memo?

We have been doing this for a couple weeks now. It works. Our cycle has improved. Most of the guys like their new early start time.

If you're 95% empty by noon... who is doing the pickups? It might work on city runs where you have 15 pickups and half of them are ready that early but what about rural runs with pickups spread out and not ready until 3?

95% by noon? Stop trying to reinvent the wheel!

Seriously? Things don't work the same everywhere?

Wow, RC doesn't understand humanity. Imagine that. Is RC an Alien?

There are endless interpretations of every event. 100 witnesses see the same event and see 100 different events. Go figure. And RC is God! Yet he refuses to start his own company to defeat the evil FedEx corporation that uses and abuses him and his loyal minions, namely Franklin.

I was told we will have to "train" our customers to have their freight ready earlier

Lol... we are being told the same crap. They don't seem to realize that these small businesses that are on smaller freight discounts, are our real money makers and in order to stay competitive they must be able to prepare orders and ship up until 5 PM and they won't be "trained', they will just ship with someone else.

They are so arrogant it is not even remotely funny! !! I hope the customers train them rite out the door!!!

River I think that went out the door lets see about 5 years ago when they combined the east and west and kept the best of both worlds as we were told out in the west. The one question I have is :what did they keep from the west? I couldn't do the EZTDBW cuz at the HUB i worked at unless you were an old Viking dude that was in good with the OM and were from a certain service center up here in the NW you were just a nobody and it didn't matter how your performance was it was never good enough to be EZTDBW!!

I know what you mean. Sad to hear that.
Bottom line is that many terminals that were end of line or did not have through freight going east-west or north-south suffered more so than others.

Started last week.

Got everyone coming in at 0800 to break freight.
Unless you are on a pedal route, (like me) then, you are to chase YOUR freight, load your ****, and roll.
Great for me, get to line my trailer out perfect, and get a bit of OT.

Flipside, freight has been showing up later than normal, so we are not actually hitting the street any earlier.

Holy **** seriously!!!! I've been bitching for years why we don't do this..... Back when I worked city (when Holland was Holland ) not YRC, USF did this same practice... Kicked our backsides everyday ... We couldn't keep up with there operation.....As soon as you have enough skids to load a Van put the furthest point in the nose and load back to closest. Doesn't matter if drivers cross each others path.. As soon as there unloaded re-position them to make pickups. Do it by waves. Loads out early then late morning a wave of empty vans heading out to make pickups...

When I ran a city route many years ago my center manager who had been a salesperson and did not have a CDL told me to tell my customer to hurry up. I told her I am not telling them a dang thing. If you want them to hurry up then you call them on the phone and tell them to hurry up. The gall of some people.
