FedEx Freight | Who heck left the FedEx door open for all these dang union guys in???

My bad just checked his history nothing but a troll....or mngt, and/or grouchy triple digit ROAD driver who doesn't like waves. Either way union or not the party's over for big money or local mngt .Safety first. It gets there when it gets there and probably not before. It will be fun to watch mngt heads roll when the new rules mean goals aren't met and Harrison finds out everyones been cooking theyre numbers

One thing you always have to remember and get them to understand.. You will always arrive ahead of the freight unless you back through the gate. Make safety a priority.

the biggest thing that people are forgetting is this. we can vote in the union but that doesn't mean fedex has to deal with them. it takes two to bargain. even if you did get the union in and they said go on strike to force fedex to the table guess what you just got fired for not showing up for work. because fedex didn't recognize the union. i could be wrong or i could be right.

Trust me...I have seen a guy at our yard (not barn) roll a back box....fell asleep at the wheel...get numerous of tickets (like 5 of them in about a years time) then he got his last ticket which made 6 in january finally get pulled out of the truck. So I think they gave him some time! Now on the double fueling...You can double fuel...just don't add one in your hand held...is 6 bucks reallly a make it or break it on your pay check? I got hired to do a job and that's what I'm here to do.....It is their company so they can make the rules no matter how lame they are....The whole seat belt in the yard thing started being enforced after that collision in SBO...so these rules they enact are due to something a idiot did at a yard..simple as that! This company is just trying to protect their butts from lawsuits...that's all! Do I like the rules....no...but it doesn't say Socal Fedex on the door so I have to follow their rules and letting a union is just gotta make this company worst IMO...You might say"well look at what upsf has"..thats great but how hard did they have to fight to get it? Can you afford to go on strike if it came down to it? I can't afford it...I got a sick wife and 2 kids, A mortgage and so forth that I don't think if We went on strike the banks are gonna let me slide on my payments cause of the unions! BTW I have 6 points but hey they were my fault for speeding and impeding with the flow of traffic by being parked on the highway!

You sound like an unsafe driver, but at least when they fire you, you will understand.

How am I considered a unsafe driver? After that accident up North FedEx has been on the radar! We got drivers doing 59 mph and getting written up for 65! I was not doing the speed I was written up for and gonna fight it! Plus the Impeding with the flow of traffic was on a non busy highway but the officer had to write one last ticket before his shift ended and caught me as I went inside a store to grab food since that was the only place to park!

:stirthepot: I would never advocate joining the union, all they want is our money to pump up their numbers and keep their pension plan from falling into control by the government. I said this over 20 years ago when I worked at American Freightways. If it isn't the Teamsters then who will it be? If we went that route how would FedEx move it's freight? If their drivers are on strike, how can they move the freight? As many drivers as say Memphis, Nashville, or Dallas has you think someone would be foolish enough to cross the picket line? I don't like the thought of the union but you know I am sick and tired of busting my hump on the dock every night with no end in sight. Kick outs or VIA's that we used to get now seem to be a fleeting memory. It is a struggle to make myself get up and go to work sometimes. Lets see you have 4 points because you didn't give 7 days notice you were going to be sick, never mind that the driver has over 40 hours worth of sick/personal days on the books. According to the President of FedEx Freight we make too much money, what happens when we have to take a pay cut?:kicking:

We can all keep complaining about this company that most of us never hired onto to or applied at, we can lay down like a rug and get walked all over on or we can bring legal representation in too stand in are corner and help us get respect. With out a union it won't happen.....

Against the labor laws to get fired if you vote a union in and go on strike. Now if you go on strike and your center didn't vote a union in Now that's a different story.

C'mon kids. This is a very visceral topic which most people feel strongly about.
To those of you that are playing nice, thank you.
Please remember that the person you called a moron today might not have felt the same way next week,
except he or she will remember for a long time what an ******* you were.

Don't let any of this destroy a friendship.

I can't say how I really feel here but the title explains itself!

What got my attention and opened the door for this dang union guy (me) was the thread that was started (what is the difference between UPS and FedEx union) Because I am a UPSF employee and union I thought I could ad some honest input. Listen, first let me say that I had many, many years at OverNite and felt the same as many of you do regarding the union. I was fine with out union representation. I am a republican, and very conservative. When UPS purchased us I saw the changes coming. Rules, rules and more rules and what we could be terminated for. These big company's are all about profits and will take what ever they can from you to make their numbers look good to the stock holders. I quickly learned that UPS was represented by the teamsters for a good reason. I do believe the freight industry has gone backwards in pay and benefits compared to what it once was. Here we are almost 10 years later after UPS purchased OverNite and I know that my yes vote was the right thing to do. Although I do not agree with many of the things the union does or stands for, I would not want to work in the freight industry with out representation or a contract. I can honesty say that I do not believe I would still have my pension if we were not under a contract. I only have a short time left before I retire so whether you guys unionize or not really does not matter to me. I will give you completely honest answers if you ask. I do think it would be good for the employees of FedEx and the industry as it would secure your future. Todays contracts will be very different from the past NMFA contracts. Keeping in mind that the company also needs to be profitable in order to give you the pay and benefits you desire but without a contract there is no limits to company greed. As far as respect, job security, and seniority, especially from all these new young kids they call supervisors that are on a power trip. (we have them too!) union representation puts them in their place if needed. There is one thing I do not believe in, and that is the us against them attitude (union vs. management) It happens. There is no reason why unionized employees and management cant get along. As long as their is respect on both sides of the table, it can work.
