FedEx Freight | what are other ltl carriers rate of pay?

You make a decent wage, some more so than others. It sounds like most of you choose to wallow in your misery. How about making a change? Since you like to say LTL companies are all pigs wearing different shades of lipstick, I'd suggest finding an alternative means of making a living. And this comes from a guy who works harder than you do. And I say this with all the respect in the world gentlemen.

However, I know this is the spirit of the forum. Venting. Dissent. Continue! I find it funny when freight guys complain.

But seriously, I'm going to try LTL thing and I'll eat crow if necessary and I end up just as miserable as the majority of you haha.

If you come to the purple weinie...you'll jump from culture shock. Alot of us have been in the water as the heat was turned up and just acclimated to it....

You lost me after the first sentence. The rest of your post is irrelevant to the topic.

Perhaps you should read the thread again, my friend. Employee happiness is referenced in multiple posts. Do you think id react to imaginary posts? No. I was offering advice, however pointed it may be.

I get comparable hourly pay at 22.90 and .62 cpm on 24 team turns with an average of 80 dollars of stop pay on those trams, which average 1000 miles.

Average guy with 2 years in works 4 days and makes 70-80k.

NOT LTL, but local. And perhaps something someone might like to see. I like these forums, I'm not trolling anybody.

Decent wage while providing a superior, dependable service to the company. We just want some balance in compensation.

If unionization is what y'all need to do that I hope y'all organize. Sounds as if that will be difficult. Is it the pay scale that angers FXF employees most, the A-E classifications?

This is what I gather from reading.

I ask this as a prospective employee.

Thanks,
Mlang216

For me driver, it would be work rules and job security. I say this having never been "coached" or written up. Some of the rules you can be fired over are ridiculous.

Why would you leave? That sounds like Sygma food service.

Guess I've always wanted to do LTL. Schedule is the con of my job. Freight levels and paycheck stability have always kind of scared me with freight.

I'm young and all this has been a learning experience, gaining skills, learning the ism and outs of driving. Six years later, I've remained safe and accident free. My thoughts are that LTL seems to have a more professional feel to it, and seems like a final destination for someone wanting a career in this business.

I'm 27 and have the opportunity to pick a company and start a long, successful career. If I'm off or completely wrong on perceptions of the industry, that's where you veterans on TB come in!

I really do appreciate the guys on this forum.

Yeah, the "thread title" was the topic, but your post (IMO, and like we all do at times) goes of on a tangent, assuming everyone is miserable, wallowing, and I wouldn't describe it as offering advice, or accept the premise that you are qualified to give any advice just because you say you work harder than us, it's just another opinion. I say good for you that you work harder than most, sounds like you are compensated well for that hard work. I prefer to work smarter not harder, or for less. Who would have a problem with that?
Anyway, you asked: "How about making a change"? This wasn't the only thread you've looked at is it? I believe that's what many here are trying to do, change things for the better short of pursuing your idea of change.

Look, the only opinion in my post was that MOST guys on this FXF forum seem miserable or some variation of that. Tangential as my post may have been, I had a point, and it did relate to the sentiment that some believe they are underpaid. As far as me working harder, that my friend is not an opinion, that is a fact.

The thread was started to provide a reference as to your rank in LTL industry pay, so I apologize for leading this thread astray. It was never my place to make such broad assumptions. Continue gentlemen.

To be clear, my intent was to say you are not qualified to offer advice or to advise just because of the fact that you supposedly work harder than anybody else and are compensated about the same as some of us. I believe someone, anyone, who works as hard as you say they do and only makes what we make is a fool......not saying you, but that is my opinion.
