City.On a peddle route.
Right now, im unconvinced, either way.
City. No. As much as I understand both sides to this issue, It will never happen at FeEx. Ever. Any center that would ever even get to vote, would be shut down fast than you could say Fred Smith. It won't ever even get to a vote.
I just don't see it happing. And I just don't see where the Union would make a difference any way.
At least look into it. If nothing else you will get some rules into place for protection against being fired for petty things. And you would be asked what other things you would like to see changed or added before you negotiate. Such as retirement, medical, eye, dental, prescription, wages etc. Take time to research and ask questions before you decide which way to turn.
There are laws to protect your rite to organize. All the money and lawyers Fred has are not going to change that or at least not yet. It takes time to change laws and it could be years before that happens. At any rate if you stand still then you will slowly erode away. A man "must" have a vision or he will parish. Move forward and don't stand still whatever direction you take but do something that will help you better yourself. Even if you don't vote the union in. Ps I like your poll above great Idea JeffI added a poll to the thread but I have something to say...
I won't say which way I would go if given the option to not offend anyone on either side but here is something to consider.
I don't think there will never be a Union at FXF and here is why.
1) Fred is uber rich and a staunch anti-union man (my opinion) , He has a team of lawyers and staff to pound any organizing effort into the ground.
2) Most people who work here could not go 3 days without pay before getting their 50k pickup truck repossessed or their house foreclosed on.
My opinion (and this is my opinion only) is, If you want to work for a Union company, you should seek employment at one already unionized. I am not saying that to be snarky and act like your time here is of no importance, I am saying this because I think the possibility of a signed contract at FXF is about as good as winning the lottery.
I don't like all the new rules, I don't like the idea of not being able to get days off like I used to but it is what it is.
If they fire me for not getting out of my tractor then I will just have to go find another job, No reason spending time worrying about things you can't control... 100 years from now, 99.99% of the people in this world will never know we even existed.
I used to pick my 4 weeks vacation every year and take that plus more days, This year (next week) I had to turn a vacation week back in because I didn't have the hours to cover it, Did I like that? Nope but it's business I guess.
Be happy, Life is short
Yes. No doubt in my mind. Do I think it's right? No. Do I think they should let a union vote happen? Yes. Am I for a union? No.Just a thought....Do you think Fred would really shut down an entire company or terminals because of a union?
He can't shut down the whole company it is a publicly held company. Grow up child don't believe everything fedex tells you
