This morning we were informed about a issue with our insurance that we weren't told about.
A road driver at hrs wanted the week of the 4th off with no pay, they gave it to him.
The following Monday his wife went for a prescription and she couldn't get it because his insurance was canceled.

He called teamcare, they told him it was canceled because he didn't work the previous week.
So it seems let's say you get into a car wreck, or break your leg at home or anything that causes you to miss a full week unpaid you loose your health insurance till your next check.
He didn't receive any notification, or a cobra form that I thought was federal law that they had to give you before cancelation.
Our BA was told about it and said he'd look into it.... But he's a worthless company yes man so that won't amount to anything.
It wasn't the company doing it, it was teamcare, that mutch he was able to find out.

They did the same thing to me when I went into the hospital, 13.000.00 dollar medical bill and NO medical coverage.
Team Care sucks!

You will have to hit the clock once a week or at least take some form of paid time for at least one day for that week. We were told about it at our vote.

Under the UPS insurance you had to have at least 24 hours per month. Though I have never heard of any insurance that pays premiums weekly.

I would contact a good lawyer.

You needed 24 hours a month, so if you worked 8 hours the first three days you were covered for the rest of the month if you got hurt.

We used to have to work 24 hours a month to get insurance. I'm sure after they drop you for missing a week there isn't done kind of fee to get back on.

I missed 2 weeks with out pay and I had insurance all the time, something funny going on with yours. Team Care has been good for me so far....

Just looking for some education here, what is an 8 week bank?

Once you finish your 30 day probation period the company pays your benefit package for eight weeks before you can start using them. So it is about 90 after getting hired before you get benefits. The first eight weeks that were paid in are held in a bank and used to cover weeks that you don't work enough to get your benefits paid.

Thanks for the info snark monkey.

Don't get injured away from work and be off over a week, about two months later you will get a statement from the hospital telling you that their bill was not paid by team care due to your coverage being cancelled while you were off.

I was told that you will be able to pay the premium for that week to cover insurance through Cobra. So, you have to make a judgement call. Was the bill large enough to make paying a large premium for the missed week of work.

Your short term disability more that makes up for it. Teamcare is good I was out two months from surgery very satisfied...
They send you a bill for your company payments. Between short term disability and state disability I came out ahead of the game.
Had no stress while I was recuperating...
