Hiring new drivers on our board and no work for the ones they have. Can't even get 6 trips a week on the I80 corridor, what do they have in mind for hiring drivers anyone know??

Must have something in mind for them to keep hiring, not unless they are expecting a bunch to retire preety soon and they are trying to get some hired before the other ones go.

Bring in enough new guys more yes votes for next give back. Gee this is way better than sleeping in a truck in Bordentown I'll do it for less!

New terminal manager at our place trying to figure out how to keep the new-hires hired by the previous mgr. busy and contented,.....while still looking like a hero to upper management for being cost-efficient. Just barely enough work to cover the guarantee. And,.......Is it true that ABF has started posting recruitment posters offering a $1500.00 sign-on bonus for new-hires? Rumor has it that Dayton has a sign by the front gate,.............I'd just like to know that they're putting my stolen vacation week money to good use.........I know they're offering a $750.00 bonus per new-hire referral on ABFatWork,...I've got the paperwork on that. Lessee here,...I'll need two new-hire heads @ $750.00 apiece to make up for my stolen vacation money,.......hmmmm,.....If I bring in four,...will they give me the week off AND the money? Or am I supposed to give the $750.00 right back to the new-hire when he finds out it'll be 8 years before he gets two weeks' vacation?........kind of like a bribe to get him to stick around, instead of running to the nearest non-Union company so he can get two weeks' vacation within two or three years?

One driver in Dayton is responsible for getting about 15 drivers to come here. He asked manager is he getting a check for 11k?

Hah! Is he using the old British Navy Press Gang tactics?........Blackjack to the skull, and a hood over the head? I hope he gets his 11k,.....Lord knows what wheedling, and lies he told the new-hires to come here,......I know he didn't mention 8 years for two weeks vacation......

No-just guys wanting to get their pensions out of default before they retire. Most ofthemhad couple years or less to retire.

So.....they aren't gaining any long-term new-hires.........just heavily experienced drivers at a discounted rate........

We feel the same pain concerning PTS over here at YRC. The companies are abusing the contract unabated.

Pratt, Kansas ABF driver is following a Werner pulling an ABF SET. Watches in horror as Werner falls asleep at the wheel. Not sure if both boxes went over or just the back box, anyone know??? The accident that Werner had in Montana was just the back box going over and not the entire set.

Good Grief! You hope no one got seriously hurt,.....but I guess WalMart isn't the only Fortune 500 company that's pushing their employees to the limit,....right into fatigue........Werner is said to have a 90 - 100% turnover rate of employees in a years' time.........which is actually the norm in truckload.....I guess truck driving schools don't have the time to stress to the newbies that you don't bobble the wheel with a set,.....you can get away with it a few times with a long box,.....but untrained new-hires pulling sets find out real fast about having steady hands on wheels,....hopefully without killing themselves,...or others. Just wait until winter,...........ABF may re-think about the quality of purchased transportation employees after a few high-profile wrecks...............Hint to the newbies: Aim for the rusty Ford Fiesta,....not the limousine. That way it'll just be a minor news article......Business as usual......
