Yellow | swift story driver shortage


Higher than expected turnover rate? What. It was only 88 percent? Pay and benefits! Quit letting trucking companies, shippers, consignees, the motoring public, and the ATA treat drivers like crap! The ATA always comes on in the weekly trash newspaper, Transport Topics as they are out there fighting for us and the companies, but they really want us to project the image of having a business degree, and work for $9.00 an hour.
 
Wait till all those "CHILDREN" coming in droves over our border grow up (in 1or 2 years) and start driving thoses jobs with glee . Thanks obama! He for our union + country

Funny you should ask. According to the statistics I just saw, the turnover rate in the TRUCKLOAD sector is 97% annually.
 
Until such time the "Morman Mafia Don" is no longer in control of the largest TL company in the country nothing will change. What you will see happen is more empty promises from Swift as well as the other usual suspects in the TL slave labor market, all in an attempt to lure like fish, those hard working individuals desperate for a job.

If Swift would redirect those funds they use in defending the never ending string of class action lawsuits, to driver pay and benefit improvements, they wouldn't be in this spot. At the same time we are talking about the original bottom of the barrel, bottom feeder that those good companies, both TL and LTL, have been forced to compete with since deregulation.

Trucking isn't for everyone but the use and abuse of drivers in TL by the slave masters from or originally from Salt Lake City, has to stop sometime. The revolving door, at 97% turnover worked for this scumbag company for a long time.

I worked for this scummy company for over a year , that was 18 years ago . They paid 21 cents a mile then , and the trucks ran 57 mph .
 
i think its a generation deal. there aren't any young ppl coming into the trucking industry. i'm 31 years old and the youngest driver in my barn. our barn as over 50 drivers
