FedEx Freight | October pay raise

I heard from a pretty reliable source that system wide we are 650 drivers short right now.... Seems like all they can hire are part time kids to work the dock... There's plenty of those around.....

YES, at least that many short. So It makes perfect sense for them to constantly threaten the drivers we do have right? I'll never understand our management.

Psychic much? How about next week's Powerball numbers?

Why are we having such a hard time attracting drivers? Could it be experienced guys dont want to come to work at a pre school shut truck off everytime you get out and all the other foolishness. . And deal with 20 something supervisors and managers that dont have a clue and when they were in junior high and there biggest concern was trying to get a stinky finger with there little chicky girlfriend , the drivers were on the job getting it done! !!!! Just a few of my ideas and in the company's defense I dont think there are the folks choosing truck driving as a promising career. There are easier ways to make a living with not 1/10th of the hassles. JMHO! !!

Don't forget people,,, these numbers are the "pro rated" raise... It goes back down after what,,, 2 months ?????

I am curious why you people cry about the pay raise and poor treatment. If this place is so bad and you want a union, then quit. Go get one of those "great" union jobs somewhere else. You are not indentured servants.

Dang, I usually double check my facts before posting. I was wrong on that one.

I got confuse with increases profits. I stand corrected.

That's cool - Just make sure you have your numbers straight when you head up the contract negotiation committee. Could get ugly otherwise.

You're right, it's industry wide. I think some of it comes from the fact it takes 3 months for the ltl's to get to your application, then another 3 to get an interview. Guys that need work go find it before they can get their foot in the door at an ltl. Also the shine has worn off. I know at OD, the struggles at YRC and now you folks has put a damper on recruiting. It's a tough sell for the poor saps that go drive for Swift or England and never want to see a truck again. This industry has changed a lot in my short 8 years. I can't imagine how you guys that saw Armstrong walk on the moon feel about things today.

The raise is (and stays) $0.80 hour / $0.02 mile. Due to the fact that we moved the effective date from July to October, this raise is not for one year but for 16 months. That's where the confusion comes from. $.060 / $0.015 would be the number if you look at it on an annualized basis.

Clear as mud?

OD is already over $25.00 in my area while we are at $22.88

True (in some areas). But OD runs also an OR in the low 80s while we are still fighting to hit 90. See the connection? And not to beat that poor horse but not paying OT until after 60 does lower your labor cost ...

And you will be at $23.68 in October ...

Can someone say red shirt! Bla bla bla. You guys have made your bed an now you don't want to lay in it! Your attitudes and policies made this mess, and now you want to talk to us like you care! Lol to late for me!

Why don't you people give it a rest with the "red shirt" comments. Just because someone has a different opinion they are red shirts? Grow up and stop beating a cliche to death.
