The airlines downsized and now charge more for flights being there are less flights there more in demand, The trucking industry downsized, cut drivers along with salary and benefits and NOW...
They raise the rates. You have to wonder if a driver shortage is something the shipping industry wants to fix? :popcorn:
 
Driver shortage story is an urban legend. All the companies that cry that they can't find qualified drivers are the same ones that have pay scales from 10-15 years ago, along with bad benefits.Requirements,knowledge of regulations,enforcement by every state looking for more revenue,all going up,but pay going down.They want qualified professionals,but pay you like unskilled laborer.Many good drivers leaving the industry.The real shortage begins over the next ten years when, the old farts like me, begin retiring.
