I am looking at transferring to a terminal in Texas and was wondering what the pay was like down there, I plan on going out there in the next couple of months to vist and talk with the terminal manager. I am looking at either Austin or San Antonio, any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Been 4 years since running wild, yet only difference in pay then was 1/2 cent for running North East. Hourly, don't know.

Line or city? Actually I'd recommend SNA over Austin any day of week. Traffic in the city of Austin is a ***** and I believe SNA is a break or mini-break. Better opportunities for line.

What I can say if anyone wants to transfer to Chesapeake,va. Just some thought for you. the dispatchers for city drivers has some of the worst routing that I think I have ever seen. I don't think they put much thought into it.

Look on the bright side, you're getting paid by the hour...

Well the problem is the way they route it and you don't get it finished they tend to make out like its your fault.

I am a line driver where I am now and looking to stay that way. When I looked at the terminals on google maps I could tell there was more action at SNA than Austin, we are looking in the San Marcos area which is directly in between both service centers, I know my rate of pay is higher being from California, just want to know how much of a drop it would be.

Look at whole picture. It's been 5 or 6 years. But did a living cost comparison for certain living standard/lifestyle. Was offered many transfer choices. Every cost from housing to taxes, also regulations and laws. Same reason business, move or stay put. CA, OH, OR ,Etc. vs Middle America terminals. Rockies to Mississippi River. Varied from 22 to 38%. Know some things have improved and some gotten a lot worse since 07/08 due to political idealogy in certain states. I ended up staying put in fly over country. CA terminals costs of living were always at higher end of living costs/regulations. So, even if got 5 to 10% wage increase, it, didn't offset living cost increase. There can be exceptions, do numbers.

Texas will allow you to make more, even with the loss of income. The lack of high CA state income taxes and cheaper property add up. Remember it's not what you earn, it's what you keep.

Just watch out for the Conway drivers when pulling out..we've been working the dock all night in San antone and are weaving all over the road. Hey, Song, you should transfer here.

If they belonged to the Master Freight we had the rate would be the same.Wake up you anti- union drivers

Wish I could work somewhere that had Master Freight so I can worry each week when the doors will be closed!
