FedEx Freight | Employee Appreciation Week?... Don't bother!

Just curious why did you leave your UNION job? ?

Hmmmm. ..I know your very insincere question had ulterior motives but I will play along...

Why did I leave my union job?... Because I had a child that was born handicapped and I dropped everything I had and moved to an area where a doctor that practiced alternative medicine and he promised to recover my child, the union company I worked for did not have any jobs in that region of the country.

But, unfortunately it never happened,... but let me tell you this my friend... when it came to my son and that very outside chance that he could've recovered... nothing would've stood in my way. I left no stone unturned... and that is the mentality I have had since my military years... I will leave no stone unturned, including FedEx Freight!

Leave no stone unturned!

No insincerity, just curious. I am sorry to hear that.

Djigman,
I apologize then for my tone with you... most people think if you're former union, then the union must've caused that company to fail... The company I worked for, for 21 years that was union did fail and close it's doors after 75 years in business but I feel the union might've played a small part in the company's demise in the final years by not seeing the critical situation they were in but anyone could see from miles away that management over extended themselves and were looking for an escape goat.

No need to apologize. I to was once union. A tough divorce with me ending up with full custody forced me to make the decision to leave. Life throws ya in to different directions sometimes whether you like it or not. With that said I am not for this union push. I have my own reasons. I won't try to convince anyone that__ is__ for it not to be. And if it happens I will join. I just think some people in here need to realize that the union isn't all of a sudden going to fix the world's problems. And it isn't going to make you happy, and bring fulfillment to your job. (You must be able to do that yourself.) Ged--good enough damnet. I'm babbling. .

I'm not miserable, lazy or mouthy. I am one of the best and most respected city drivers at my center. I am a combat veteran and after that I was a Teamster for 21 years. I've been with FedEx now about 6 years and I am tired of the rules that change on a weekly basis and most of all I want them to honor seniority. The best line that is in most union contracts is that "Seniority will prevail at all times" ... that is what I want.

No, I am not going to leave and work somewhere else that already has a union contract. I am staying right here and I am going to stand with my brothers and we're going to change this place whether you like it or not!
Some of the hardest workers at our barn are guys that have been here forever. They bust tail everyday period. They aren't lazy slow or crybabies, yet I've heard them get negative at times due to the way things are done, how they get treated, etc. They've seen it all. Different regime same crap. Weve all tried to give input to make things better. To no avail. Many have had it with the way things are here. Its all management all the time. Some of these guys are done being stepped on, disrespected, dicked around..... I understand and respect their desire to go union. These drivers have walked the walk and now its their right to talk.

wow.........

Want to send a message to management???... Leave them hamburgs and hot dogs on the grill. Give us a fair wage and a good days work and we will buy our own hot dogs and hamburgers. Thanks but no thanks!

If you are in one of those hubs that they are getting steak dinners... same advice, let them build it up... plan a big houpla and then stand as one and no one show up or eat any of it... trust me, it leaves a huge impression. Sends a large message!

Regional managers chew on that!

The only message you are sending is how greedy you are.

Sorry, but beg to differ. Our company has been doing an awesome job of that. It's kind of like the old days, the threats of retaliation. .the use of independent people to keep us in line, the threat you may loose your job, and illegal acts. You must either be one of the drivers who goes in the break room on a daily basis and gripes and chooses not to get off your ass to do anything to make it better, or a redshirt who hides behind a handle and insult the very people who earn you your check every week. It's no surprise though, we already knew how we are disregarded for our efforts. You don't care about your customers, so why should you care about us?

I guess what you can call all of this is corrective action to management, written and signed by us, the backbone and hard working workhorses that have afforded you your lifestyle. Personally, I don't care how you live, but I will say this, fedex is suppose to be a leader in the industry. We should be setting examples for others to follow. Instead, we are going backwards. We should all be working on the same page here, but it appears it's not going to happen. Corporate is sounding more like the 4 year old in the grocery store who is not getting his way.

one thing I'm sure we all can agree on, is that stockholders nor customers like turmoil. And corporates resolve, as this grows, will be you sitting before the stockholders explaining your actions.
