It appears that a driver had an spill on his trailer on this past Monday. Plenty of red colored fluid on the roadway and at a Central States terminal. Some went into the sewer, only a handful of absorbent towels spread on the ground. No formal cleanup of the pavement, probably told to high tail it back to the yard before the DOT was called

UPDATE; Apparently the product spilled was red food dye. Thought they got away without anyone noticing, but later today a full blown cleanup of the area is taking place. Matty is going to have to shell out some bucks for this.

Looks like blood.....How apropos considering how Matty did the Vitran workers.

what were they thinking at CT, Central states would refuse a shipment for less than the leakage. I wonder if this trailer had been leaking all the way down I-94

Here is the latest update; I backtracked the stain back to I-94. He came from the terminal with it. 300 gal tote with a side puncture from a rivet or something. Trailer was loaded on the saturday prior. Some think that the tote was in the middle of the trlr, unless the driver reworked the trailer prior to departure on Monday. The driver pulled into Central States possibly for a delivery. There is a trail to a dock door, he pulled out and back up to a grassy area up hill so it did not leak out as much. It probably seeped out the holes in the nose, though. Lol. Cleanup continued this morning. Digging up soil and sucking out the drains. Other businesses closed, no dock access.

my guess is the tote had been forked, A rivet would not puncture the tote. And I would guess that the forking would have been the result of a reworking of the trailer on monday morning

I don't understand how the driver could not see :27: something red leaking from his trailer, Obviously not watching his mirror's.. This 1 definitely cost ole Matty some big $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I would think it would have been leaking from the CT terminal, who ever damaged the tote should be suspended. I would like to see what the clean up bill will be

So, the final update is this; The now fired driver put his pj under a 300 gal tote. No straps available to secure the tote, which jacked up enroute. Bounced against a jagged wall puncturing the tote. The rest is history. So, sad.

One or two pumps on the pallet jack is a plenty to keep it snug under a tote without the tote floating around. I prefer to use a tote to hold a pallet jack down if I have one.

I prefer to not take a pallet jack at all. ...most businesses have them to use. ..why have one rolling around in the trailer.

I don't seldom have a tote on my route. That's why I said if I have one. But if I do, totes are by far the heaviest freight for my area and will easily hold a pallet jack. But then again I don't take a pallet jack unless I have a lot of freight to move to the back.

Them firing him was a blessing....now he can go find a real job...And Snark you cherry pick your stops....nothing but forklifts for you.

No pay raises for Detroit terminal, c.t. Will have to total all the bills and fines then program the dolphins to shave time off of all drivers until the accident is paid for. Do you really expect mouroun to pay this out of his own pocket?

Funny . . . but that's not the case. Just like you, I am a cat's whisker from the bottom. The only thing I can refuse are appointment stops that have not been scheduled, residential (if I have a 48 or 53), or tight stops you definitely have to use a 42 ft trailer for. We route our own trailer as we break line haul. Supervisors really don't walk around telling us "do this" or "do that." We're all big boys and know what needs to happen.

Sometimes if I am light on stops, I will call a residential customer from the dock and tell them their shipment just came in and I can put it out for delivery today, but they will have to meet me at Walmart; or they can wait until it can be scheduled on a liftgate. Most will gladly take a Walmart-tailgate today over waiting another day or two for curbside delivery. (A driver should never be forced to take a 48 or 53 into a residential neighborhood by any company for any reason)

Senior guys can leave stops for me they don't want, and they do, but they are pretty good about telling me what the problems are with the stop they leave behind. That's the perk of seniority that I'll have someday :)
