KANSAS CITY, Mo. —FedEx driver crushed, killed by own vehicle

Sad and disturbing situation. Condolences and Prayers for the Driver and his Family and Friends.
 
Just heard a report on the way home tonight on RoadDog Trucking XM that 467 Truck Drivers lost their lives last year while on the job, Mostly from crashes but also falls, crushing injuries, homicides. We have a higher fatality rate than Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers combined. Sad statistic.

I would like to see stats for a 10 yr. period, to see which way the trend was, and is now.

He must have been in such a hurry to make his deliveries,he may not have set his brake.

Anything object manufactured (mechanical, electrical, etc.) can potentially fail. Chocking the wheels is the only absolutely safe way to prevent a roll. I once had a pickup truck with foot operated parking brake that scared the life out of me once when it released by itself. It was beginning to wear internally and would on rare occasions release on its own. I used chocks till I could replace the mechanism.

PS - Don't even get me started with folks who just use "park" on automatics and don't even use the parking brake.
 
I miss some of my former co-workers & a few customers,but I don't miss the rat race & bull work,of the daily grind of doing pick-up & deliveries.
Especially don't miss winter driving along with loading & unloading my 48 foot route trailer,also don't miss any of the private home deliveries.

Yup I am very happy I retired when I did.
