I just got a call from one of my friends and he told me about the nice raise, the new vacation policy, and the faster trucks.....it is what they should have done a couple years ago. You can thank the courageous drivers in Laredo. ...and the threat of the teamsters....

Haven't actually received anything yet. Maybe January 4th rolls around and they say they can't give the raise promised because of a harsh winter or a thousand other reasons. Maybe they give the raise and insurance goes up, maybe they give a raise and take away OT at the terminals that get it. The saga continues. Maybe we get the raise and everyone says "now we want happiness" lol, who knows.
 
It's not a done deal yet, they could have implemented the raises a lot sooner than January. What is 3mph in the grand scheme of things? What about all the drivers who have lost their jobs over stupid BS while the rookies tearing up everything keep right on working?
 
I'll say a prayer for all delighted giddy grateful employees today... Please Jesus give the power to fellow Southern California brothers to guide their hand to vote yes and give me and my family more because I'm still thirsty

Ya get a uniform, car with logo's and the same amount of rights ...no big truck, and probably take home more on a Friday and Saturday.
I wonder why I left that for this sometimes.

Thanks for Laredo starting this, but if it wasn't for the 30 plus terminals organizing efforts and adding more interest, we would have seen no change. Everybody should be thanking the Teamsters and the passion of a lot of us trying to organize, otherwise you would have seen nothing. Don't think Conway was just trying to do the right thing, Odfl still makes more then us with a better retirement, along with fedex, abf, and ups freight with a pension. Your clueless, the teamsters got you a raise, we still need a retirement and security, keep the drive alive
 
I had a run to xcw about three years ago. I ran it for two years. They had two mechanics and they worked out under a old fuel island in the dark, freezing cold and rain. They were the ones that needed a union.What ever happen to those poor bastards?

They have certainly done a lot of good for people over the years, but the organization as a whole is a shell of it's former self.

They will promise you the moon to get the dues money rolling. There was a time when the Teamsters had companies by the balls. Now you file a grievance on a blatant contract violatiob and 18 months later you may or may not get the problem resolved.

Never had this problem. In fact settled four money grievances yesterday without even filing any paperwork.

They just Screwed you out of 20 hrs vacation time if you had 4 weeks or 25 if you had 5 weeks or 30 if ya had 6 weeks !!!
that adds up to a total over all 13 plus million dollar screw !!
The vacation time now will be paid in 40 hrs at your rate of pay not what they been paying so it equals the 9 hrs we used to get !!
and you can add up to twenty hrs that you have accrued ask them you will see what I am saying is true !

yea the raise was nice but they always find a way to **** you some where some how and that vacation crap only benefits
them not us by you taking hrs you have earned like that now
you will if you do it have to work an additional half week or week depending on how you do it I don't know about you
but my time off is important to me and i want every minute of it even if its less pay !!
The premium stays the same if your in the south. Based on 45 just like always.

The Teamsters have made no promises other then they will help organize and will bargain with us. We already are aware of how a contract can benefit us.
Also, in this area, no dues till the second month after we have a contract. There will be no initiation fee for us.

Con-Way bought an off-site shop a couple miles down the road from the XCW terminal.
 
The management at this company must really think you guys are fools. Fellas you lost your pension, your 401K is a joke, insurance has skyrocketed, and the part timers are taking a full timers overtime. How in the heck could you sit there and let that happen. Your company is literally picking your pockets in your present earnings years and in your golden years. Im going to throw this out here regarding those who think pensions are no good and believe a 401K is the way to go. With a pension you have a guaranteed payout based on your years of service say like $3,300.00 a month for 25 years service. A 401K is nice to have but they WERE NEVER DESIGNED TO BE A SOLE MEANS OF RETIREMENT. Your pension is for life and when you meet the good lord your wife then still receives your pension as a beneficiary. With a 401K you could outlive your earnings. Think about that for a moment.

A 401K is supposed to be a supplement to a pension and with that all the risk is on you. All of the fees and any gains those investments make are on you pending your retirement. After you deduct capital gains taxes along with administrative fees all I can say is Ramen Noodles for dinner in retirement. With a pension the employer sets aside the funding for your retirement. In any teamster company that means you pay zero dollars for the contributions that are made on your behalf. Your health insurance which should be translated as WEALTH INSURANCE in any teamster company is paid 100% by the company for you and the family. How much are you paying over there with Conways insurance plan and what are the deductibles? For you guys over 50 you need to think about this. We are getting older and the warranty is starting to wear out. When the warranty runs out thats when we get sick and thats when the big bills come into play. Your going to get a lot of people saying you should take personal responsibility (management drivel) for your health. Well last time I checked you cannot control heredity. And what is the leading cause of bankruptcy in the US? Medical bills. There goes your wealth right down the drain over a philosophy (personal responsibility) verses the real world of heredity.

All of these benefits the teamsters have are nationwide. There is no Northern tier or Southern tier its all the same for every brother and sister that is a member.

Not sure about a rise lol but they done got them a raise and they don't even have a contract. Bend over or go union boys because you know con way aint going to give you that money without expecting something in return....
