Conway gets massive raise to .60 per mile and no increase in insurance prices. Conway also turning their trucks back up to 65. Fedex making about .60 per mile with cheaper insurance. Fedex also gets a company pension on top of their 401k. Fedex trucks run circles around sefl. SAIA making roughly .56 per mile with FREE insurance after 10 years of service. UPS freight making .66 per mile and family insurance at roughly 50 dollars per week. The big RED and BLACK at 56 per mile and massive increases in health insurance. SEFL has cut the guts out of the trucks and still turning the fuel pedal down to 63 and cruise will be on 65. SEFL may want to stop wondering who is transferring to Kentucky and start thinking about who is looking for a job. We keep falling farther and farther behind. Ask your T.M. and he will tell you those other companies are not making money. Think about that. If you owned a business not making money would you still be in business?

Wow. Lots of ass-hattery in this thread...

Conway gets massive raise to .60 per mile and no increase in insurance prices.
How much is their insurance?? Yes our insurance costs more now, but who's to say it didn't go up to a level that ConWay has been paying all along? I have a feeling you have no idea what they're paying to make a fair comparison.
Conway also turning their trucks back up to 65.
Who cares??
Fedex making about .60 per mile with cheaper insurance.
Yes they make more. And if their insurance is cheaper (AND better), then I'm happy for them.
Fedex also gets a company pension on top of their 401k.
And they also seem to like laying drivers off....so what's your point? I'll take job stability and a good company over a pension any day of the week.
Fedex trucks run circles around sefl.
The newest crop of FedEx KWs that are running down in LA and TX go about 1mph slower than our trucks. Not sure if they're turning them all back, but the new ones aren't running circles around anything. And even if they were....once again...who cares?
SAIA making roughly .56 per mile with FREE insurance after 10 years of service.
Doesn't sound like a bad deal....if you put up with their crap for 10 years.
UPS freight making .66 per mile and family insurance at roughly 50 dollars per week.
Sounds like a sweet deal. But for me personally, I like the culture and environment at SEFL. Not something I'm willing to trade for an additional 8cpm.
The big RED and BLACK at 56 per mile and massive increases in health insurance.
Also "massive increases" in business, service centers, stability and employees (of which none were laid off). Get the big picture dude.
SEFL has cut the guts out of the trucks and still turning the fuel pedal down to 63 and cruise will be on 65.
No idea what you're talking about here. My truck runs the same speed it always has. However, if they're beginning to turn them down, I wasn't aware, and can't say I care too much.
SEFL may want to stop wondering who is transferring to Kentucky and start thinking about who is looking for a job.
The line of people trying to get hired here isn't getting any shorter. Maybe when that begins to happen, they'll address your insignificant concern.
We keep falling farther and farther behind.
Behind? According to who? And according to what criteria? Lol, put down your crack pipe fella.
Ask your T.M. and he will tell you those other companies are not making money.
I don't have to ask my terminal manager. We exist in the information era. The fact that you're asking those questions to a terminal manager instead of going straight to the source more than likely validates my suspicion that you know very little of what you're talking about, as your post reflects.
Think about that.
If you owned a business not making money would you still be in business?
Businesses can exist a very long time operating in a deficit. You would do well to read a few books on economics and business management. Buyouts are usually the most common way to address the issue of financial woes. Maybe you've heard of a company called YRC? They are a prime example of such practices. Then again, according to you, they should be making money hand over fist....ya know, since they're "in business."

I noticed you didn't mention Estes.. They have a NASCAR truck now, so they have their money tied up....LOL

Hey fastsvt, what flavor is that koolaid? I don't blame sefl for higher insurance premiums, I hold Obama, Reid, and the rest of Washington responsible for that. However, Southeastern wants me to be all in for the company, but I don't think Sefl is all in for me. I think they do just enough to keep most of the people content. But over and above? Not really close. Am I gonna complain about it? No, considering the alternative in my area, theres not any other good choices.

hey fastsvt ,i say let them go .stop talking about it,and take a walk, they talk like there on an G`D date ....oh i want to be content..u poor thing ..its a job ...try working or start walking bitches, what did u think u were applying for an office job?

What I don't understand is why just because somebody else got a raise...all of a sudden we have it so bad and don't make any money?? Lol! SEFL hasn't taken anything from me. And I'm free to stop working here anytime I want. I have no less money now than I did BEFORE Conway got their raise. Yesterday my pay was enough, but today it isn't...all based on outside factors? Makes no sense. Everyone has an opinion, and I don't fault anyone for that, but the undertone from these guys is angry. Almost as if Mr. Cassels held a gun to their head and told them they have to work for 40cpm. That just isn't the case. You are operating with flawed logic if you are content with what you have ONLY up until you think someone else is getting more. If enough is enough and you're happy, then it's enough NO MATTER how much someone else makes or how fast their trucks go. And that's the point I was trying to make. I can pay my mortgage just as well this month as I could last month.I just don't understand the motivation behind the borderline trash talking of SEFL all because Conway got a raise and someone else turned their trucks up a few clicks......???

all i can say is dont get hurt on the job rather it is your faught or there"s.and dont think Mr.Cassel will help you cause he wont and his sorry azz wont call you back he will have one of his peon"s call you. screw him and his company.suppose to be a christian man?what kind of religion are you?worthless. could always get a nice raise by voting in the union and better supervisors. if we had a union bet they would not work us 12 to 14 hours a day. i can get it started right here in norfolk,va, have plenty union driver friends and so do alot of you, lets get it rolling.

if you are wanting to work 12 hours a day and not get over-time pay for it there are 3 things that are wrong with you..you are STUPID, have know FAMILY life, or your wife dont want you around her cause of #1.

I was always taught that if you were going to call someone stupid, you should do it in a complete, grammatically correct sentence, know the proper use and spelling of contractions, and know the different spellings and uses of know and no. I did have a really good English teacher in the 10th grade though. Probably why I'm not in a union.

hahahahaha so true ,mabe he has some nice things to say about the employer he has now ,im sure they would love to hear from him on their site, hahaha

So you're FOR the union? Or for his wife and family not liking him?

i think its time for u guys to unionize, the big reason why conway r getting raises is to keep the union out. there's a big push to unionize fedex freight n conway, so they will do anything 2 keep them out. i worked for non union ltls and would never go back. union is the way to go, u have a contract and work rules that don't change like the wind. plus the benys r better, and u get a pension after you're career. if mgmt is trying to tell u not to join a union it because they r looking out for the company not the employee. mgmt never cares about the workers rights just what they can get out of the worker

I work for Saia and at least for me I have an working environment that makes my job more than about money .... I'm happy here because they don't mess with you about petty stuff ... Accidents is about the only thing that will get you fired ... And perhaps calling off too much ... 23.48 hr. plus OT after 45 .... Great healthcare at affordable rates ... 12 single weekly ...25.50 for my wife to be added .. Free after 10 years .... 401K match to 6% .... No dock work unless you want it ... Most carriers are pretty close in compensation ... If you got time in there I wouldn't jump ship for a buck or two .... And a few more perks here and there .. It's just not worth it ... As far as the union goes .... I won't go there .... People know my stance on that ... Saia treats us fair and we don't need one ... You will always have cry babies everywhere you go ... Some will complain even in paradise ... All I can say is if you find things unbearable you can always seek other options .... With a good CDL you can go anywhere .... But I would accept the good with the bad and stay where you are at ... But that's just me ... The grass has to be mowed wherever you go . Nothing is perfect.

To make things look like you need to drop your pants and get ready for a screwing after the "union thing" dies down.... Plain and simple, it's called "baiting"....

A lot of folks are getting tired of Watching company profits grow with raises that don't even keep up with cost of living and sorry new insurance. Not the same company I started with 29 years ago.
