So I went to the Dr the other day for anxiety and he wanted to prescribe me xanax, can drivers take xanax with a prescription?
 
You might want to call the DOT on this. Before you start taking it or talking to coworkers or company about it.

I recently heard a local lumberyard driver day that he failed DOT physical because he was prescribed Chantix to quit smoking. True?
I don't know.
But he said it.
Call DOT anonymously.
Dont trust drivers or company.

You can probably find out how to contact DOT in that link.
I searched a tiny bit but not much.
Your doctor needs to know about your CDL/employment situation.
I should not have told you not to take it.
I am not a doctor.
Also some employers may add drugs which their company disallows.
You must talk to your doctor about it.
And you should call DOT.
And you probablly should check with your company.

Slave is right....See your Doctor and do your research.
 
Thank you for being honest and safe enough to ask. Quick reading, there are some side effects that may disqualify you as a cmv driver. I'm no doctor, but side effects like thoughts of *******, drowsiness, slowed reflexes, etc should cause you concern. Calling your Feds anonymously and asking is great advise, then discuss with your doctor. Maybe there is an alternative drug?

If you do end up taking it, start on the weekend so you can see how it affects you.

Thanx slavenomore...yeah, don't trust anybody on here(no offense to anyone) ..check with the DOT.

Hey buddy. I think I can answer that question since I had to take meds or anxiety and depression. I would take the meds b4 bed and only thing different was instead of doing your medical exam every 2 yrs it will be every year. U must tell doctor due to the fact that if something should happen while your on duty u can and will be accountable for the outcome. And incase u are wondering why I said I used to is because I one day said to myself that I don't need meds. I need my Heavenly Father and have got close to him and have never felt better. Hope this helped

All prescription drugs authorized by the DOT are online.. Just Google "Prescription Drugs allowed by Federal DOT".... Or contact your doctor or local drug emporium....

Get a note from your doctor that you are being treated for an ongoing illness so if you dont feel even you can get an FMLA day or two so it wont be held against you .. check with your doctor and explain to him and he should be able to help you .. I too take an anti depressant to cope with the really rotten "things" that I have dealt with in my life. Hang in there driver .. seek Him as well. Prayer helps.
