XPO | xnh files for union represantation

cin is for Cinnaminson. new jersey. from what I have been told even though that terminal voted it down. there are rumblings of fed-ex management threatening employees with layoffs if they voted for the union.

LOL, you didn't get it.

You know, sarcasm can be fun AND make a point with humor. But you are just plain abrasive. Peeps are more likely to listen to your well thought logic if you present it in a more civil manner. In the meantime, you represent the corporation in an aggressively hostile mode that......never mind. Keep doing what you're doing and you will continue to influence people and win friends. It would be hard to believe you're not surrounded by friends and co-workers.
Like your work man and I love you like a brother! You make a solid and attractive case for corporate domination and we need that here.
Thank you and please stick around.

Awww, am I too abrasive for some people's tender lil psyches?

That's a shame.

And lonely.

Yeah - feeling insecure and lonely.

I think they should pay us road drivers more on breakdown yes, but we don't have to give them any time to get it, it's as soon as you break down. City drivers obviously get their normal hourly for breakdowns. The delay at the hotel is pay for sitting on your duff watching tv so that's money for nothing.
You arent just sitting on your duff. You are away from home doing the company's business.

Agreed.
Although the driver may not be actively producing, he/she is made available at the expense of his own time and family.
The driver is not free to leave for shopping, dental work, or even a movie. The corporation enjoys readiness at the driver's expense.

Do you honestly believe going union will fix any of that ? A union can't change the business or its operations. All they can do is offer representation. Ask a YRC driver about broken promises. And bad business decisions and practices. Ask him what good that union was to him. What that union did to stop top heavy management from mismanaging the simplest of day to day operations.

What's funny is YRC tried lean before us. Proved it doesn't work well in a business with as many uncontrolled variables as LTL freight. Of course the upper management team believes we can make it work. Or are they a bunch of people that came from the auto industry where lean will work trying to justify there jobs? I have enough integrity to say that I believe we added a lot to YRC s troubles with our hard push for there freight during there downturn. Yes I know they have also made some poor decisions. What do you think we're doing right now? Your right the union won't make them stop wasting millions of dollars on non freight essential items. I bet if we took the money and salaries from lean and invested in our workforce( and workforce engagement ) , infrastructure, IT dept ( have you used our handhelds) and FOS pay we would see a much greater return. Mr highspeed you have also mentioned how having teamster representation would only cause tougher work rules and a lot if grievances.
Have you ever seen the God knows how many SWI s that we have? Seriously waiting for one over the toilet explaining the process. Of course that would include pictures. As far as grievances go. Yes there will be a learning curve for all. But if you really are a driver your not giving the rest of us very much credit. I believe that we will learn together with the local management , act as adults , and also police ourselves on stupid grievance filings. I believe that most drivers considering there union options would also consider company options in writing.
I honestly believe most guys feel this is the only option to upset the investors enough to make a serious turnover up at XGO. Top down if ya know what we mean. I know it's 2014. I also agree that we needed to organize and attempt to make FAC s a little user friendly. Bottom line is its still moving freight. We were at one time the best at it. We also had a president that truly cared and engaged his people. We had a very simple process of doing it. We had less of everything ( now that's what I call lean ). We had one of the best compensation packages on the market. It was easy to hire freight men instead of dock boys that valued there jobs and took pride in our service and customer satisfaction. Don't you find it a little arrogant of the executive staff that they would not worry about keeping there LARGEST WORKFORCE engaged. This current executive staff has taking this top tier business and turned into us against them. Instead of the all for one team that I and many others built. I have heard this belief from SCM s on down to CSR s to the DSR s (20000+) strong. I don't believe jerry detter s salary was over a million dollars. And he knew freight for thirty plus years instead of only a few when they made him president. We need freight people from the top down to run this freight business. We can be the industries best again. We better get off are asses soon though. Thanks for hearing me out. I'll gladly discuss any of these mr highspeed

On the contrary we take our tractors to the hotel and are free to bobtail to eat, shop, whatever within reason. Once we are called we are given 2 hours to be back to the yard.

I stand corrected.
Regardless, you are there for work and not at home.
Thanks for clearing that up.

7.50/hr isn't much but when you figure I used to sit in the cab of a sleeper for nothing when I ran otr, it's not bad. We don't sit on the road very much either.

I am real sorry sorry you feel that way. One of the reason's for the driver shortage is companies not realizing the value of truck drivers. You don't cut drivers pay for any reason. Drivers make a company...

Drivers can also break a company as well. Every dime they pay us has to come from somewhere. Delay pay is free money. I expend absolutely no energy to get it.
