FedEx Freight | Now's the time. The time is now.

Buttercup although I do not work at Fedex, Our p&d area crosses into the Middletown, Croydon, possibly the Pocono and maybe any of the Jersey terminals who have petitioned's areas. If they decide to join to better themselves it will help better things for all in our trade in our area. Theres 3 in our area who haven't petitioned yet but Im sure they will if the others go thru.

Im glad the Southern guys who have petitioned are posting because they will understand you much better than me. No offense intended.

As far as me designating myself sheriff, ot the Teamsters doing that, it is a wrong assumption.
From what I've been reading the Teamsters didn't call the Fedex drivers. The Fedex drivers called them.
And although a lower percentage of cards needed to be signed in order to petition, the Teamsters required 60-65% of eligible voters to petition.
Thats what I've read. Charlotte is nearby and they petitioned.

As I've once said..." this would be a much nicer place to work without all these trucks and drivers around". We all know this is a healthy forum to express one's opinions but when it gets opinionated is when thongs get knotted up. Small center life is good yes but I make it work for me when I'm doing hot laps on a 'yota at the HUB(s). Whether it's 4 doors,40 doors, or 400 doors. There has to be a standard. There are managers in 400 door facilities that would as equally tank in a 40 door shop and a 40 door manager that would bloom at a big center given the chance. I think the corporation needs to figure out why there is a flaw in the standard. Don't take a verbal "I'll get back to ya on that". Ask when and follow up. Driver's and the like, you want this company to run like you'd run it, so start doing that. Follow up, ask questions. I know alot because I know nothing. I get nosey, I wanna know what that "blip" on the dock screen means....why different colors for this and that.

Get to know the Haz-mat stuff. From my readings and understanding, you could tap RC on the shoulder at anytime and he'd be able to spout out some reg or reason why. He didn't learn that in bandcamp, I'm thinking he wanted to know at one time and it just kept rolling. (finally able to inject a acknowledgement in for RC)

All in all make it work for you by making it work for you.

If one manager has trouble with his big door center, add a second manager, not an assistant, another clean clothed body walking the beat. Put a line down the middle like the Brady Kids did and see who's side is getting the job done, who's numbers are good, where the lovefest is and then incorporate the findings. Promote and demote as needed. Hell we'd get a "time-out" for not being up to the driver standard, how about the same for those tasked with. Start implementing some past time honored ways of running the place and see the ship starting to surface back up to the waterline.

Like a good friend said to me, (unfortunately for him he is probably already shoveling something white and getting his tire chains back from the chrome shop about now) "The Land of Oz was good 'til they pulled back the curtain"...start pulling back that curtain.

You can be a pain in the ass without being an ass. If you drive to the center everyday with a "kick a bag of kittens" attitude before you get there, just keep driving. You're toxic.

Make it work for you first and then use that knowledge to pass along what worked and didn't. Too much "Dog Pile on the Rabbit" going on. You think there is no communication between drivers and the management now...wait 'til the third party has a piece of this pie. That sliding window will get closed and a "have your people get with my people" tone will be echoing through the office. From what I've gathered, some managers are looking forward to possibly pointing you in another direction for a simple answer to an even simpler question. Could be days... There will be a ticket dispenser just like at the deli for all your inquiries.

Let's hope corporate reads and understands what needs to be addressed.I believe asking someone who's job could be on the line, "so, how's everything going?" ain't gonna get you any truth. Ask a driver, dock guy, support associate. Would love to see at least one associate of each job class be summoned for a ask all ,tell all ,what's on your mind scrum. Somewhere that has a nice pool and afternoon tea and strumpets. Kinda like a NATO thingy but without all the headsets and earpieces. I would dig having my own nameplate though. Representing the Island Of RumBoogie.

Let's have career day, get some of those stockholders that see only the top line and slide'm in to where the bottom line starts. Piloting a forklift at night at 10 below zero will open some eyes and then freeze them that way.

"Sure are a lot of quotations..".

Ok, off to give my pillow some head. Maybe I'll see some of you part time dock-dummies / truck pilots tonite on the patio.

Take this all in light, not calling anyone out, not trying to steer anyone in a direction they don't want to go. Basically I'm just talking to myself in front of an audience.

Be safe, drive and live like you're supposed to. Give your manager a big hug and thank them uncontrollably, They will be confused for the whole week.

Peas Out. No rebuttal needed.

Here's the problem I have!

guess what Obama will be out of here in 2016. and fedex will still be screwing you like Obama is.if that's your only reason to vote no that's fine by us. but I can bet a bunch of high ranking people at fredex voted for him also. so remember when you vote no your still backing Obama supporters but without security from the teamsters you can rest assure you screw up you will be fired and nobody to help get your job back. p.s. and your ins. will keep going up and really will not be worth a dang.

Why do you feel you NEED a pension to retire on? Why the need to MAKE someone give you a pension? Yes it's a nice benefit but you should be stacking your own nickels rather than HOPING someone is doing that for you and your future. If you are wanting someone to do that for you why not get someone to make your pickups and deliveries for you too. Hek, just phone the whole day in and wait for Friday to have someone deliver your check to you at home. You'll never have to take off your bunny slippers.

If it was based on work ethics and productivity, some would be quaking in their boots. If we are all going to get the same, we all better produce the same. How many times has your blood pressure gone up because someone has got the "Atta-Boy/Girl and you see them as a total slacker and you do a much better job and get nothing. You just may be paying for his retirement before you pay for yours. He/she is ten toes in the sand and you are trying to figure out how to get an engine some guy ordered off of e-bay off the back of your trailer into his garage out back of his property. Hate to pay into a pension that's pays for the yahoo we all know kicking back behind Lowe's burning up the afternoon making himself unavailable to gather those last few pickups that contribute to his Friday paycheck. .

I have no yes or no thoughts of going union at the moment. Still scrolling through the tons of info found on the interweb and the library, yes actual book learning. I can't make a RATIONAL and quality of life decision thinking all I have to do is click my heels along with the other dreamers. It's like marrying the first person you...Bumped Uglies with, Man or woman, we are not here to judge. You made a rash (pardon the possible pun) decision 'cause it felt good and now you can't wait to get out of Dodge in your Chevy and hope that never happens again. If only you took your time to do the math.

FYI. I have a nice pension waiting for me along with a very handsome 401K. You see, the wage that was negotiated for me allowed me to squirrel away a sizeable chunk along with what the company was contributing to my pension. By working Union I was able to better my retirement savings. I paid nothing for my healthcare all these years. I paid nothing into my pension. The company did all that. What I did do was start a 401K with the Teamsters as soon as they became available. I never looked at the wage. I looked at the bennies and the back end reward. If you were able to take the monies you shell out every month for healthcare and invest that, what would your return be after 30 years? Look at all the angles brother. You will be glad you did.

BUMP

Go Harrisburg and S. Brunswick GOOOOO!!!!!!!
VOTE YES!!!!
Driver Shortage.
Not getting compensated the way you think you zhould.
You might want better health insurance.
You may think you've been treated unfairly, or have seen other drivers treated unfairly or dockworkers.
Maybe you'd like a better vacation, sick, personal day, holiday package.

You work for the largest LTL carrier in the business, correct?
And they are financially sound, and profitable, correct?

Alot of you probablly have wives children to provide for.
You have mortgage, maybe car loan, electric, heat, water, sewer, trash, cable, internet, phones, groceries, clothing, home maintenance, car insurance, other insurances, CDL and hazmat license, medical bills, school lunches, your lunches, appliances, tools, maybe credit cards, maybe personal loans, winter clothing, maybe college loans or college to save for, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Trick or Treat, birthdays, wedding anniversaries, sports/ music/ boy and girlscout interests for your kids, school photos, yearbooks, car inspections, car registrations and taxes.....and the list goes on. All for you to pay for.

There has not been a better time for YOU to make things better for yourself and your family with your skills in many years..
You have everything to gain.
It may be many more till this " perfect storm" comes around again.
You have nothing to fear.
Your bills dont seem to care what they charge.

Its your turn to get yours.
Driver shortage means its your turn to get yours.
Dont let the opportunity pass.

Vote YES.

I'm glad I left FXF and I see why many drivers are asking for the union. There is a need in that company. This is why I left. Just my 2 cents. Good luck to ya'all

Should have basic morals then because every thing he stands for takes that out of our lives.

So, if I have this correct, if fedex was on the side of Obama, you would then be on the side of the union? Pretty lame rationalization. I look out for what's best, for me and my family.

There is absolutely no reason to be afraid or think the petitions, Yes votes, or charges against the company wont go anwhere.
Now's the time.
The time.is now.

Labor Secretary boosts unions, praises new models of organizing » peoplesworld

I like this quote:
"The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that last year median weekly earnings for union members were $200 higher than for non-union workers. That's not pocket change, and it doesn't even account for the superior benefits enjoyed by union members," he pointed out."

Another reason that now's the time.
This issue isn't over yet.
If you're non-union you either let the American Trucking Association or Teamsters handle the political issues of your trade. You actually tilt odds to the ATA's side....by not joining or participating.
Although I don't have a crystal ball, my assumption is that Wall St. wants these Mexican trucks here. The ATA is Wall St.
They seem to remain silent on the issue.
My mistrust tells me they probably have plans to eventually bring trucks with our company names on them, over the border some day with extremely inexpensive drivers behind the wheel.
The owners operators oppose it.
Along with the " terrible Teamster thugs".
Pick a side.

He supported the employee free choice act. It's too bad those representatives with morals couldn't get that piece of legislation to his desk huh?

Imagine that! Employees with a free choice. That damned evil Democrat! Too bad the Corp Dems blocked it from happening. Just like they blocked a more sensible single payer health care overhaul. Vote yes!

It's not that you didn't vote for him it is what his party stands for. Do I need to go there with you. So if the teamsters supports him they support his agenda.

I do not support Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Kerry, Chuck Hagel, Ect, Ect. I vote for whom I want to vote for and I still support a union contract. See, even though the IBT may support the Democratic Party agenda and I don't, I will still retire with a very nice pension that was protected through a union contract.
