Any similar healthcare situations at Conway?
Companies sometimes may follow a similar progression maybe?

This is nothing that was not already projected out years ago. To say the hand writing is on the wall is a gross understatement. Although the corporation has not been able to hide the rising costs of our premiums and the potential out of pocket deductibles of some of our plans, the declining coverage has NOT been acknowledged. Less and less is considered covered making our health care costs go up, up, up. I speak from unfortunate experience. The corporation sez costs are increasing faster, but analysts say different. Health care inflation has slowed to record lows.

They WILL increase OUR health care costs, because they can. Watch for some big "enhancements". And pucker up drivers.

Be grateful if you and your's enjoy good health. But be prepared!!!

FedEx Freight Workers In Charlotte Vote To Join Teamsters Local 71 | Teamsters

Just posting for information, otherwise I have NEVER intruded on YOUR board. Thanks

“The companies are offering pay raises and other improvements at the same time we are organizing, but the workers know that these things can be taken away just as quickly without a legally binding contract,” said Tyson Johnson, Director of the Teamsters National Freight Division. “The unfulfilled promises that have been made to drivers and dockworkers over the past decade are coming back to haunt management.”

Yes, I know the same guys dropping rocks from bridges during the '94? strike will welcome me with open arms once I give them money every month.

Come on! Give your "brother" a huG!!

You never know you might be surprised once you can get your arms around it !! No pun intended.....

I absolutely believe our pay is related to union scale. That doesn't mean I have to join it out of appreciation for all they've done for me.

I like the balance of union and non-union companies working off each other. I also like the side of the scale I'm on and don't feel like jumping over to the other side.

Oh, and I think you're confusing disagreement with being upset. That's fine.

Please don't think I don't respect your opinion , just trying to understand.
There would be no balance if everyone thought like you.Imagine what this industry would be like without the threat of a union.
You admittedly enjoy the pay you get because of the union. To me (just analogies) its like enjoying your freedom yet bashing the military.
Or like bashing the thief yet buying the stolen goods. You bash the union but have your hand out for everything it can bring you.

YES!!!
220 drivers in that barn!
Not to intrude on the Con-Way board but just wanted to set the record straight so you guys wouldn't be misled.
Yes, there is 223 drivers at the FedEx Freight CLT location and the election results were 110 yes, 99 no, 14 drivers that didn't vote. Since our election on Nov 19, no other center has voted for the union. The scoreboard currently stands at 3 centers for (1 hub & 2 EOL's), 8 centers either voting NO or pulling their petitions due to lack of support for the union, and one center, Pocono Summit Pa, left to vote.....and all signs are are saying it will be another no vote. Even support for the union at the CLT center has dwindled to the point to where their membership numbers are a lot less than anticipated...well below 50%. There are a few more smaller centers that have petitioned but haven't set an election date.....and they may not due to the fact that the support for representation has all but died at FedEx Freight.
Good luck in whatever you guys decide to do, I just hope that you guys, unlike FedEx Freight CLT, do your homework and make an educated decision.

Apples and oranges brother.I don't see how something that happened in the last century correlates to goings on today. Before you make asinine statements.Think it out thoroughly.Your Brother Teamster

Unions bother me. Everything else follows from there. Anyone interested in the situation at FedEx is capable of finding their boards and joining the discussion.

I'm simply amused at how some union guys think people need led by the hand to information.

I guess they think we're not smart enough to do it on our own.

Maybe some aren't. The union would do them well.
We are not leading you by the hand.Enlightening you yes.You all have heard enough fairy tales about how bad unions can be.We are being supportive in your workmates desires of a Union.I think it's awesome.United we stand divided we beg.

Fedex appealed the Charlotte vote.
As of yesterday they dropped the appeal as having no basis.
The vote is certified.
