Interviewing for linehaul position out of Memphis. Would like to hear the good, bad and ugly from some of you guys...

Be prepared to stay out 5 days, drive all night and sleep during the day. Take the good with bad till you learn system....answer the phone when they call.

I guess it depends on terminal I been here 5 months and been out all week 1 time. I'm usually away from home no more than 2 nights a week but yeah take good with the bad it's been a good company for me so far I take whatever load they give me.

If you are going to drive for Saia, then linehaul is the way to go. Memphis is a big terminal, and is sorta looked at as the gateway to the southeast, which means that there is plenty of freight. As mentioned, adjusting to night work and day sleep takes some getting used to. Bring enough gear for a week, maybe more. There are aystems guys in the company that stay out like 2 weeks, by choice though...never EVER question central; that will get you fired quick. Document everything, always have a witness. The weather is about to get nasty in short order in a lot of the country. Remember that you must attempt to pull, meaning hook up and leave the yard. Drive a few miles then turn back if it's too icy or dangerous. You can't just go by the weather report. If you don't attempt to pull the load, you will be terminated. I think that's about it. Good luck.

Agree with the previous posts. I'll add one more. If you have a Billy Bigrigger attitude, please lose it quickly. We are paid quite handsomely to not act like a bunch of jerks. There are a few we're still trying to break of the attitude though, talk about mission impossible.
