Have the 5 seeing eye habits been grieved, and if so, what was the outcome? I've been given an ultimatum:learn them or get wrote up.

I have never heard of anyone being wrote up for not memorizing any of the safety things. Sounds like someone may be blowing smoke. You should be talking to your steward about this.
 
I have a meeting with the tm in the morning, along with my steward. She says if I can't quote them, I will be written up. BA already had a meeting with her, but she is not backing down.

That write up isn't worth the paper it is written on. A supervisor can write you up for anything. It isn't worth getting worried about. It isn't a condition of employment. Protest the letter and move on.
 
We were told they all will be a condition of employment. Our tm said if a small pack driver can't recite the seeing habits, backing habits, the 10 point commentary on request they alcan be sent home. And that's how he wants it at hrs.
He said ups requires him to know them so we need to know them also.
 
They were pushing it hard on us in spring and early summer at hrs city with quizzes every morning, but as summer wound down and into fall we haven't heard anything lately in the city.
 
It's coming to the road at HRS as well, but no official date has been set. It really isn't that difficult to memorize them. What worked for me is picturing how I do each of them. That made it a lot easier for me to remember.

I don't care what your Tm said, they don't know what they are talking about. Our small pack rep has already stated that they don't have to know it there either.

Had a guy have an accident and the supervisor tried to make him be able to recite all the jargon before he would be returned to driving. Filed a grievance and the next day the guy was driving again.

IT IS NOT A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT! PERIOD!

If you want to pushed around, hoodwink and bamboozled, then jump through the hoops.
This Teamsta doesn't play that game.

Never heard of something so ridiculous! Why do you guys have all the fun terminal managers...
 
I know at HRS new hires have to do it before the TM will let them go out with a driver trainer but I haven't heard of an existing road driver receiving a writeup for not knowing them yet
 
let them get away with this and they will have you memorizing every safety slogan BS thing they can make up...They told our PUD guys to memorize or be put out of service...That was a year ago and haven't seen it happen yet.

Not really. I'll just wait for them to put me out of service. Then we'll go from there.

we call this the winter games in pen. it is the slow time. time to push safety and lunch between the 3-6 hr. but just wait till it affects production it will go out the window. just ask the terminal manager for time at the end of your shift every night to study this . hopefully this will be on ot. she will drop it
