like I posted on another thread. I guess all the anti-union Obama haters will love Obama now.:f0c36acc20df62e0610
Being anti-union and hating the president have nothing to do with each other beyond the fact that the unions support the Democrats.
And it's the same here in Canada, where they support Liberal and New Democrat parties. The same people who keep raising my taxes so they can throw more money away. Meanwhile, Caterpillar shut down a plant here last year because of high taxes and expensive running costs.
A few thousand good union men and women out of work in London, Ontario, which was once a big union town with a rail head and several manufacturing facilities, conveniently located where Hwy 402 meets Hwy 401, granting easy access to two border crossings. Because the party their union elected convinced big, evil Caterpillar that it would be more profitable for them to take their business elsewhere.
And for the record, this facility was constructed by General Motors back in the 1930's and produced General Motors Electro-Motive Division railway locomotives. GM spun off EMD, whom Caterpillar eventually bought. It was a profitable union shop right up until the union-supported Liberal Party of Ontario hiked taxes and hydro rates (we're paying other provinces and stares to take our electricity thanks to the Green Initiative windmills) to the point Caterpillar decided they were done increasing the price of a locomotive to meet the growing cost requirements of maintaining the facility.
If you wanna play politics, there's two sides to every story. You can blame Caterpillar for the jobs lost, or you can blame the government for the pressure they've put on every business operating in the province of Ontario. Just like how you can blame FedEx for the screwed up medical benefits, or you can blame Obama for the ACA that put many companies in a position to decrease their coverage due to increased costs and taxation.
There's a bigger monster here, and the union can't save you from it. Keep slamming FedEx though. They're not perfect. But then, who is?
