Man, people just get so obsessed, that they refuse to think clearly..... DAD if it was pulled and never reset for a vote, it's a NO vote...There is no tie or run-off in COO.... In any election, that's the way it works... I'm as surprised at the voting numbers as most are... With all the chatter and support for union representation, I thought it would be a hands-down decision...

From what I understand and I could be wrong, I know I have been before, but they can't re-petition for 6 months and then another election date well be set. So to me that is not a no vote, and it's not a tie, it's a delay.

Regardless if it is a total NO vote or a pulled election, they still cannot file for 6 months,so it really doesn't matter how it goes down, the vote was cancelled and they can't refile immediately... I think the Teamsters made a boo-boo by not continuing the vote... So what if it failed, they would know where they stand.. There;s no "egg on your face" scenario when comes to representation... What makes it a NO vote IMO, is the vote was scheduled and then cancelled.. It was made available then pulled.. It's really not in the number in a cancelled election... Ties only work in the playoffs, there is no playoffs here.. It's either YES or NO...

I see your point, I just don't agree with it but that's fine. And I do agree I think that they should have gone ahead and voted. I'm also surprised as are many others at the outcome in states that are historically pro-union. But it's not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last.

The main thing is, don't let it stop you... Keep on pluggin'.. Rome wasn't built in a day... Be patient.. These anti-union and union guys are going to test your nerve, just ignore it... And do what you think is right..

The late great Dale Earnhardt once said. "The most difficult thing in racing, is losing your focus. Your goal. You lose that and you might as well pack up and go home to the farm"...

Thanks good advice and good luck to you also.
I lost one family because of it, and fortunately I have a wife of 27 years that I love to no end, because she sacrificed so much for me to do what I loved to do.. So I'll leave it to you guys and hope things get better.. I won't say that it can't get any worse, because I went through 2 strikes and a couple of bullets coming through the cab.. So it can get worse... So just keep your head up, and if it don't work out like you want it, then it just wasn't meant to be I guess...

Before I get off and go to work, I hope you see the humor in this, even if the non-vote is a no and it's 3-2, he is still passing his numbers like a true FedExer.

I look at it, as seeing it at both ends.. The good, the bad.. We see what he writes, and he may believe what he writes.. I don't know a man/woman on here, that wants to fail at anything.. It's the American way.. It was bred into us by our forefathers and mothers... Black, white, American Indian or whatever you may be, you hate to fail.. And he doesn't want to fail either.. Remember, there is always two sides to every episode.... I call every Teamster my brother/sister, because I was one.. I call every non-union man/woman my brother/sister, because I was one.. Both, at times, I don't agree with.... Ya see, if I can, why can't more people..

Have a safe day at work and watch out for the little tykes out there.... One of them may just be yours....

It was a choice that they had to make. As I understand it. There was a calculated risk either way they went. If the vote was held all the ULP's that surfaced right before the vote would have locked it down. The box would have been sealed and impounded until all the ULP's were investigated and ruled upon. This could have led to several outcomes so maybe the union played it safe.

And that's their prerogative.... It could work out for the best for the Teamsters.. Either way, it doesn't matter now, 6 months from now we'll find out.. Until then, it's all good...

For all those who are voting soon beware of the sellouts that are trying to get you to sign a petition, i think that we all forgot what this country was built by, the constitution we have rights and we are allowing corporations to dictate our lives , many men and women have given up their freedom so that we can have a say in this world, don't allow fedex sellouts to rob you the rights exercise your vote, for those who vote yes stand tall and be proud , and for those who vote no , and coherce others to do so you should be ashame of yourself , life is about bettering youself.

are you really unaware that unions are the reason you enjoy a living wage today ? YRC is the poster child that all you non - union guys use as a frame of reference when talking about the union. as if YRC is the union... its not. it is the largest unionized ltl carrier in the country , but it was a mismanaged company that went heavily into debt just before we went into the recession. the fact that they are still in business is amazing and indicates tremendous tenacity on the part of the union members that work the docks and the streets everyday. the union did not take the 15% concessions and pension reductions - YRC did. get it straight boys - if the union carriers go away over the years, your pay will go down drastically as your company will have nothing to fear any longer.and yes, the union does want your dues money because it is used to organize and further the mission of the union - which if successful strengthens all workers.

Why not just save yourself the trouble and find a place that's already union? It sounds like people have been trying for a while now to unionize fed ex but no one seems to want to be union. why not apply to UPS? they're union and probably like make double than a fed ex driver and dont have to drive as fast on the roadways. your welcome.

It's called seniority. I don't want to start over and go to the bottom of another board. It's bad enough where I'm at on our board with 15 years. It's not about the rate of pay. It's about the benefits.Better less expensive health insurance. The ability to keep some sort of company health insurance post retirement and maybe even a better pension plan. A drivers rule book that I can hold in my hand and carry with me would be nice. (something we were given at the last company I worked for). There are a lot of drivers having to do these 5, 10, 30 whatever mile runs all day and getting mileage pay and drop/hooks rather than a drop and hook. I feel fortunate not to be one of them, but I think that it should be addressed along with a few more of our shuttle rules. This corporation is not going to change anything that will cost it a dime, just out of the kindness of its board. Anyway so how about we vote to try to fix a few things for everyone here and if you don't like what you see then you can quit and go to a non union company. There are plenty of them to choose from.

why not organize a sizeable carrier, keep your seniority, and increase the union density within the industry, therefore pushing forward pay, benefits, and working conditions...
