FedEx Freight | Dropping the bomb 2018

Ultimately as a UPSF driver I just like watching the debates and since my family was at Overnite during the so called attempt I always feel a need to correct the story the seem to like to lie about. Also I think it is horrible how fxf treats it's employees who made them #1. You guys deserve to make what UPSF pays us.
Funny how they handed out papers the other day talking about how overjoyed failed to bring in the teamsters. I guess they don't know that upscale is overjoyed.

Thanks SwampRatt just trying to see how good u guys at FedEx really got it. I thought it was way more than that.. But if u guys are make 27hr and .69 mile that's better than YRC . I still want u guys to vote the union in so we all can be a stronger Union for drivers.

Not sure who told you we make that much, but I sure as hell don't.

Labor unions, while not as powerful as they once were, still have tremendous pull. I think there will be a good chance they play a significant role in pushing toward a repeal. I believe there will be significant changes to the ACA (not a huge epiphany) no matter what regime takes office. Those who wanted this already won, the real agenda was to get it passed in the first place. No turning back now, we need to figure out the best course of action and hope it happens that way. We got some lemons, now we have to do something with them.

Boards like this are a great place for people to get informed and debate. I have learned a lot about a lot here.

UPS is the same as FEDEX. We used to have more options on disability they have taken away we are paying more for less now. Why go outside of FedEx to supplement my income if something happens to me outside of work? I want better options and I'm willing to pay for them.

FedExFreight is no where near that... You are thinking UPSFreight, as of Jan 1st. Geographic inconsistencies at FedEx are extreme. In my area it goes like this, as of 1-5-215: UPSF $27.10, Conway $25.41, Old Dominion $24.95, FedEx Freight $23.68.

And the insurance is very poor, no retiree healthcare at all, minimal pension. Other than that, things are AWESOME, except for some major inconsistencies in the rules dept.

Your the PREFECT examples of WHY I hate your gut less teamsters. Your little snarky remark about my wife's business. She is small mom and pop drapery business. and just so you know she is on my insurance. It's a family business that has been around since 1909. You talk like your a know it all. start your own biz and see what it's like having to comply with all the crap from the county, state, city, and federal Gov. You have know idea. Crawl back in your IBT whole where you came from. It's people like you that keep my hatred up for beloved teamsters. It's your little personal attacks like this one that show your true IBT colors YELLOW. your a scum bag.

Temper Temper kids
looks as if we have hit a nerve here.

[I find that alot who dish out cant take the same. Piece of **** Teamsters is I believe I began respondi.g. I often wonder why people vote " no". It really makes no economic sense. No we cant " promise" like you demand but once again I bring up common sense. Did I ask you or force you to bring up your military history or your wifes business.

Of course everybody is free in this country. But its sometimes agitating to me how a guy who has a second income, a businesss siince 1909 comes out speaking so loudlly against people trying to improve their familys economis sitiation, the only way they may be able too.. You You dont respect that. And I have no respect for your stance. Im sorry. I dont.Your wifes family has every right to improve themselves with their own business.
These yes guys have evety right to organize. [

I've been talking to a lot of guys that are no vote's about insurance and disability we have and they don't realize how big of financial hit they would take if they got hurt outside of work. So I ask them do you know how much disability pays you if you get hurt and the answer is I don't know. when I tell them it's 60% of your pay they are shocked. I ask them could you pay your bills on that, we all know the answer to that. I had a accident in my driveway 2 1/2 years ago and nearly died and I'm still paying to this day on what insurance didn't cover. So I just keep trucking on and glad that I'm still on the right side of the dirt.

Thank the Lord that you're OK....and not on the wrong side of the dirt.

I am just asking...why is it my employer's responsibility if I get jacked up hanging Christmas lights....or if I reach to far into the limb chipper...or if I want to try skydiving?

Again, not being a doooosh....I would seriously LOVE to have my own business in the near-future and wonder about these things.

I am somewhat contentent with my pay and bennies....but what could I afford if I was the CEO/CFO of my own gig ?

The so-called Cadillac plans will be Obama-taxed to discourage employers and employees from buying. That's not a FedEx or Union initiative. It's a US f'n A fact of life.

I'm not sire Fred or Jimmy Jr. can REALLY help me.

....makes me wonder if the folks fishing for Alaskan crab are smarter than me??????????????

Have you seen the hoops the crab fishers have to jump through. Trust me this over reaching government over regulates and over taxes everyone save for the welfare babies

We used to have a disability benefit at our Local but its gone since 2010.
I don't know if it was just a union benny or employer/ Local benny.
We can legally collect unemployment if we are eligible to work in some way but not able to fully perform our contractual job obligations or something like that if we didnt hurt self on job.
If Dr. releases us to lift no more than 10lbs or something, we're eligible for unemplyment. I think the contract makes that possible..

The above might vary from locality, state or employer. I really don't know. I just know we can do that here. It may or may not have to do with contract.
Unemployment may even pay less than the disability which was brought up.

Just sayin' that it seems that those that are living off the land are right.

The rest of us are drones drinking purple or horse-head Kool aide.

Cell phones, pensions, tax brackets, retirement, short term disability, 401k, vacation time, Time FREAKING Warner cable, getting stuck with a city guy that smokes....

.....and my son says he wants to be just like me???????

How do I tell him ?????

This might be long. I just cant get it out of my head what the CFO said on Thursday in Charlotte. He stated that 1% of our work force ever reaches out of pocket deductibles or maximum out of pocket deductibles and only catastrofphic events would make this occur. We have a driver who then spoke out and said he was the 1%. He said he has over $6200 worth of medical bills and it wasnt a catastrophic event. But our CFO stated we have good insurance. He then said fedx had to do it or they would be fined by the goverment due to ACA. Another driver then asked what year fedx would be fined. CFO then said 2018. Our driver then said then why is our insurance so weak now if fedx wont be fined until 2018. He then angerly says " what were we suposed to do drop the bomb on you in 2018 we have a step plan" . Driver response is what does that mean. Whats gonna happen to our insurance in 2018. Our driver asked him to clarify what he means. CFO anwser was you can go vote on nov 19th. We'll it sounds like our insurance will decline evey year. What are we in store for??? 15k,20k out of pockets??? Being put on ACA??? I can not get this meeting out of my head.

What you fail to understand is that every large company in this country with have to comply with Obama care. The mandates this puts on companies that are self insured or not it's a great expense to comply and administer.

It's on your W2 form. Nobody pays attention to it because right now it is not asked for on the 1040 tax form

Thank you for this info. After much digging I was able to locate my W2. You find that line 12b DD is the amount FedEx pays for your individual or family plan. In my case it is the family plan and they admit to paying $12,548.40 for 2013. Unless this payment is set to drastically increase, like double, then FedEx is nowhere near the $27,500 cap before the 40% tax on a "Cadillac" plan based on these numbers. Please take note of what is entered on your W2 everyone and use it as fodder in the meetings. Ask if they know what they are contributing for each employee/family on your behalf right now? Ask what they estimated their portion will be for 2014? Ask what they are projecting going forward to 2018?

Estimated benefit for 2014? They know what they are going to pay in premiums for each employee for 2015. They don't estimate that it is part of your pay. And as far as I know the only thing that could to towards the Cadillac tax is the premium not the actual pay out of the plan
