WOW!, I worked for three different companies, for a total of 31 years, Took my pension, then the third company went broke. Now I am an Orphan. So because of that I, with thousands of others will be hit 1st and hardest with the cuts. Lets hear from other ORPHANS.I feel special, How do you feel?

I know folks that worked for 3 that went belly-up and were likely not too comfortable when they found themselves at YRC a few years ago....

union really dropped the ball ,back when all these companies went broke , 20 years ago the union & Central states should have seen a problem , when less and less companies were paying in , it's like DUH , gee maybe we are going to run out of money someday ??? Changes should have started 20 years ago , and so I see it as " the union fund people at fault here" that did'nt do something back to then to stop the problem we have now !!!!!

Union dropped the ball well before that when the growth of non-union companies started and the International did little or nothing to organize them. Don't even get me started on the prohibition of double breasting in the contract as CF started the Con-Way operation. Joke.

Very rare to find a Teamster that did not work for a company that went belly up.
And now the fund is going to hit the Orphans who kept finding Union jobs the hardest, what about all the money the fund collected from members that couldn't become Vested by finding another union job. Fund collected with no liability

Some of those funds need a lot more of those folks putting in and never taking out.

Well if 30% is taken off top, 31yr pension would be$2170. Then get ready for Orphanage Charge, then insurance deduction, comfort gone, for most years of worry and depression, from adjustments being too severe. Won't see this happen to the Chiefs only the Indians

Sure wish my wife was a 30yr teacher , instead of 30yr waitress , God knows , she has her wishes too !!!!! LOL

This bill is so far reaching, it will also affect the teachers sooner or later. Yes sad to say you are right about the chiefs. At least for now.

Not only those, how about others who left the craft and died without families. Biggest yet is the one worker for four retiree. This has been that way for so long, The 70 80 90 year olds are about to die off at a faster rate. Stopping payments to those in most cases or lowering the payments to surviving spouse. The way things are set up now, more will die, then will be retiring. Which would of happened anyway, even without the new slime, killer bill. ( I think those were congressmen) who will enjoy their very high retirements ( which are also government underfunded retirements ) which if slime and killer were true leaders, would lead by example, by taking a 60% cut. This bill is just a trial run to see if congress can get away with killing off pensions all together. :violin:
