I said this long ago and got poop-pooped for it by the Hoffa athletic supporters, Active Teamsters should get the cash that has been given to the Pension funds in their name and get a check from that fund (TAX FREE) to make their own retirement investments. If they **** it away, OH WELL! I think that I can handle my money as well if not better then CSF without paying a blowhard like Nyhan $600,000.+ a year to screw me and I'm not even getting a kiss. There will be enough left in the fund to care for the retirees until it collapses, and it will collapse because we haven't had a single company added to the NMFA/Pension Funds in as many years as I have vested (23). When you have 4.2 retirees drawing and 1 paying, just do the math, it's unsustainable.

Hoffa is a total POS. Only a total moron would have let UPS out of the Fund. Then it has been totally mismanaged by the Funds leaders. Only wished I lived 500 miles west and would have been in the Western Fund.

This is why you get involved. Go to meetings, Voice your opinion. It's all water under the bridge, right now.

When are you people going to stop blaming everyone else for our own mistakes? Our jobs, our pensions, our middle class lifestyles have all went overseas. We run straight to Walmart with our paychecks every week and buy every thing we can there never caring where it's made or from what country it comes from and then wonder why the factory down the street is closing. Oh that's OK i never liked that old factory in my neighborhood anyways. It didn't matter much in the 70's and the 80's nobody paid much attention but now their all going to China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Mexico and so on leaving us holding the bag to pay the taxes the factories use to pay for our schools, roads, police, fire and on and on. But instead of looking around and trying to support Made in the U.S.A. I'm going to blame Hoffa or my Local Union (who by the way is buying Made in the U.S.A.). Wake up you guys, we are the last chance to save this country from ourselves. We still have the best jobs around and we can still buy from each other and turn this around. If we demand our clothes to be made in Tn or NC or Tx somebody will start making them there. Start looking at the tags. Stop blaming the people that are trying to help us.

You are so right, Hoffa has gone out of his way to help all of the Teamsters. I feel a lot safer now. Besides all those factory jobs went by by beacuse big government taxed it out of business. Thus making it cheaper to go overseas, with the taxes and rules, regulations on polution, etc, etc, etc.

I Think fund should just take across board 10% cut back into fund, and tell members accept the fact the fund will die, instead of ttaking larger deduction , it's up to you to prepare yourselves. We understand your Trust is gone with us, so now Trust yourselves

You are right on about 25% of the reason. 25% more is because those businesses were taxed to death (highest corporate taxes in the world, obamcare law that makes hiring next to impossible, and zoning and epa regulations that shut down entire union industries (like coal), which increases costs.

The other half is the pure greed of the entitlement crowd, demanding ever more from government, which starts the cycle over again...

Another reason to buy American is the quality. I seldom buy new clothes anymore, I buy mostly vintage American made stuff because the quality, material, workmanship, and fit is so much better than the imported crap. Can't even get a decent pair of jeans anymore since they off-shored production.

You think Jimmy's pension is safe?

I have been drawing on my forced savings account,Teamsters pension since I retired from UPS Freight April 2008.
Around the first of every year, I receive a letter informing me the pension is underfunded.

I call my pension a forced savings account, because part of my wages were taken out of every pay check for the years I put up with working LTL.
Social Security, was a similar plan,as I was forced to pay into that system all of my working years.

Had I saved that money in my own bank,or invested in a mutual fund, I'd have been a lot better off now.

Oh well thats life, you do the best you can in your working years, then hope you can be some what comfortable in retirement.

yes my union has done good

i go to every meeting

i ask

i tell

and there are members that actually care
more that me (in some things)

i don't blame MY union

i am MY union

its just like we are learning (about time)

all unions are different just like our pensions
are that communication alone is like seeing you kid graduate kindergarden eh
