Makes a person wonder about the mentality of some dispatchers or managers.
Also makes me question the wisdom of some of our drivers. After all he could have said no to dispatch and if they pressed the issue told them to go ahead and write him up he would follow up with the safety director. I know easier said and suggested then done but if we as a whole continually allow dispatch to push us into running when it is unsafe then we get what we deserve. Life is to short to take unnecessary risks.

Some years ago, I was driving for a frozen food company and they had to push 3 of us off the yard because it was so slick. We got 30 miles up the road and shut down and went into a motel, on the clock!

Sorry, have to disagree with you. Have to wonder about the foolishness of a driver who would go and drive when conditions are unsafe to do so, especially when there are laws and the Union on our side. Not specifically talking about any one driver in particular, but we are the ones who decide on the road when to pull over when it's unsafe regardless of what any other person may say. Learn and know the rules and regulations of your craft and utilize them.

You do know why UPS is so big on safety.
It is because if any negative issues arise when a driver goes beyond their own judgment,or comfort zone.
The driver will be blamed,as the authority figures claim they were well trained in safety.
They should have known better,if you believe any dispatcher will back you up.
You are dreaming.

A YRC driver posted on the Truck Accident forum the information of our drivers origin.
