Not just tolls: E-Z Pass keeping an eye on speeders

yes, indeed. at my company we were getting memo's from the safety dept, warning everyone to slow down and obey the EZ-Pass speed limits. some of the guys were blowing thru them at above the posted highway speeds. some like in NH are set for 65 mph, but in ME, you have to slow down to 20 mph (i forgot, been a while since i've been on the road). to me personally, these states get millions of dollars a year in tolls, and as we all know, it is for the upkeep of the toll roads, and the lining of pockets of the toll road bosses, and ploiticians.....so it would make sense to build more high speed lanes, and let traffic continue on with no slowdowns, causing jams at the collection booths. this too will keep the toll roads in debt, (which they all want to do) and to continue raking in the toll fee's.

a very long time ago, when i ran the NJTP, i would listen to a very good radio talk show. it was said that the NJTP was paid for many years ago. but the continued construction along that road, guarantee's toll collection, as the NJTP would still be in debt for all the continued work. Just like the GW Bridge....(and all others), been paid for dozens and dozens or years ago, but they still collect tolls, for the ever ongoing construction.

The first time you cant go thru an EZ Pass lane because you went thru too fast and it was suspended you learn real fast not to do that again when you get it back.
Ask me how I know ;)

i personally don't need to know. one of my co-workers did such, had to pay his own tolls. oh he got reimbursed, just about 2 weeks later. kinda pissed him off at himself..lol. wife got all into his you know what too...lol

More government control. More ways to extort money from you. In PA and NJ, some of the EZ Pass lanes are 5 mph. You might as well stop and pay cash for that speed. Makes me long for the days when I used to give toll collectors 5 pennies in my cash payment. They got all bent out of shape, cursing, yelling, etc. I used to enjoy digging into their ass about how this road was paid for long ago and you could always get a job as a cashier taking money for minimum wage somewhere. Ah, fun mornings of yesteryear....

i hope that in due time, all toll takers will be gone. with ezpass being relatively simple to get hold of, and cameras and such, if anyone runs a toll they will be caught an fined. i can remember many times hearing on the radio how the toll takers didn't like losing thier jobs due to the advent of ez pass, and to them i say so what, many other americans have lost thier HIGH PAYING jobs as well.
