Yellow | New Volvo Day Cabs!

Crazy about safety?? Schedules ?? Held accountable??? You are kidding, right???

For what it's worth, although it's been a while since I was a feeder driver at UPS (parcel), I can totally agree with what Yellowpride said. They operate in a way that's very foreign to freight people.

Great company to work for. Crazy about safety and firm on schedules. You're held accountable for your day and equipment. Not hard to stay in line though. They really are a very well oiled machine.

Very grateful to be here, but I do miss my Yellow Freight days. I worked with a lot of good people on both sides of the glass. Many got laid off and many just left. Now they're at FedEx Freight, some other small, but well paying outfits, as well as quite a few here with me.

How'd it work pension wise, isn't UPS Freight in a different fund?

No I'm not. Do you work here? Were you here last week when they told the guys going to Indy to turn around and comeback because of road conditions? We're you here when they told the guys that made it to Indy last week they were putting them up because they didn't want them driving back until the roads cleared up? Are you here for one of their many mandatory safety meetings? Are you in the truck when your phone rings and its dispatch asking you if you're still on property because you haven't outgated yet and they want to know if you've been delayed?

They watch, they monitor, they ask questions. They give you everything you need to get the job done. Equipment, information, and someone to talk to should you have any issues. They feed us regularly for being safe and just to thank us. So if you think I'm smoking something I suppose I'm going to smoke it like Cheech and Chong.

Misread you were talking about UPS. For a minute there I though you meant YRCF . Sorry. Scared the hell out of me as I also work in the Chicago area.

I just said I goofed. Read your post wrong. Thought you were still with YRC. UPS has always been the premier company to drive for.
You should of came over. We were on a hiring blitz. Lot of legacy Roadway and Yellow guys over here out of 309. Sucks in the beginning being on call and all,but it gets better and goes quick. No longer 705, but since 710 falls under Joint Council 25 my time is reciprocal.
