Wilson has major issues

Wilson has major issues and if they are not corrected will be dramatic for the company. One of their biggest problem is Gast. They bring someone in that they say is going to change Wilson for the better. How has he made It better?? It had been rumored the reasons this terminals were shut down was so it would help the other terminals in getting raises. No these terminals were shut down just for greedines. People lost their jobs, people lost how to put food on the table!!! Sad. How long are they going to hold out of their people??? I believe Gast is just greedy and wants to keep money all to himself. He has not done anything to make operations smoother. While these hard working Wilson employees are out their working for nothing, Steve Gast is probably in the office smiling (maybe even sitting at home) bringing in what I believe is a $200,000 + salary. He has not bothered to really show his face in terminals and people should take him seriously? Get real. People are tired of Wilson's crap, that's why everyone is so ready to jump ship. Driver's attitudes are terrible at work, but no one can blame them. ANY OF YOU BIG WIGS AT WILSON!! IF YOU READ THIS..
TREAT YOUR EMPLOYEES LIKE YOU APPRECIATE THEM!!!!! AND THEY WILL IN RETURN "RESPECT" THIS COMPANY AND YOU JUST MIGHT SEE A TURN AROUND IN THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO WORK THEIR BUTTS OFF TO GET THE JOB DONE!!!!! BC RIGHT NOW NO ONE ACTS LIKE THEY CARE!!!
 
welcome to the boards thatdriver and thanks for the post. last night i was told that some of the CLT drivers were asked if they would stay at home and let the Landstar drivers run. that is so ridiculous and like a slap in the face the way i see it. I'm proud of the drivers that said noway and worked. If it were another employee that had a night off already they would have gladly said yes but not to an outside carrier that is being guaranteed money.
 
Hell Wilson's gonna have nothing but landstar left to pull one of their trailers if they keep pissing off their own employees. All of whom are still waiting for a raise. The competition is getting raises and I'm talking dollars. We get wore out trucks, more money being taken out of our checks, :shit:ty ass benefits, and make less than everyone else in ltl. For the right compensation I can overlook a lot but we are not being compensated well and if it doesn't change soon I'm may jump ship. Has anyone seen Gast or does he only visit the terminals he is shutting down?
 
2 terminal managers let go yesterday... said they are eliminating the positions in smaller terminals and 4 office people let go in ATL. No one on is safe anymore
 
They need to stop trying to save themselves into a profit and start getting some freight...and enough good equipment to move the freight. The freight is out there we just have to be competitive.
 
In my opinion, WTVA, in it's present form, sucks. If you want to work for a company that cares about you,.......leave. There is life after WTVA. Myself and many others on here are living proof.
 
They need to get rid of some of them fat salaries and bring the drivers and workers pay up to competitive status.A nickel per mile would bring their LH guys up to close to everyone else.Hopefully the new guy will realize the supervisors don't need supervisors.They don't have enough terminals now,to warrant having all them managers.Regional managers (terminal and shop) appears to be pork.Cut it to the bone and feed the muscle of the company.Several years ago,you couldn't beat the workers off with a stick.Now,all you have are guys trying to stick it out to retire or guys that have so much longevity,that they are afraid to leave.Unless they are hauling freight for nothing,they have to be making money.

When gast ran things at new penn i never saw him, never came to the barns. The only time i saw him was on a tv screen welcoming me to new penn
 
Idk if Gast or Chuck is the problem, I have a feeling Gast has his hands tied cause things are still being done the same old way. More to my concern.
. Are we going to see any of the things mentioned last year in the conference call? Some new are at least more equipment? Uniforms? Some kind of match? Another pay raise (last years still left us as lowest paid in ltl)? As I see it Wilson's biggest problem is lack of investment in the company and the ones on the front line that actually do the work that makes the money. That's what needs to be done to lower the turnover, lower claims and get some of the freight out there wilson can't get cause they don't have the equipment or man power to move. I like my job over all but there are definitely some issues that need to be addressed soon.
 
I really hate you guys are in this situation. I would have never guessed 10 yrs ago the company would be in such turmoil.Now after all this time and giving Gast his time you have 2 choices. Stick it out longer to hope for change or Leave and find a better place to work. There are worse places to drive for and a lot better also.

I've been trying to stick it out in hopes that things would get turned around. Since Gast took over I've seen little progress. Most of the higher seniority people are sticking it out for retirement but most others have jumped ship and been replaced by cheaper less productive people. The way I see it, if things get turned around I'm in a really good spot otherwise I'm screwing myself by hanging on too long.
