Can anybody explain how your linehaul drivers run? I was told that they run something like a 3/2 split out of the south Atlanta terminal, not really sure what that means, and also are the miles there?
 
3/2 is 3 turns one week 2 the next. You layover at another terminal and back home the next day. 2000 plus miles a week for my friends there at .568 per mile if I remember correctly.

I can tell you all about it that other fella has it right but left out a few keys to remember the use the good ole boy system over there if you ain't kissing a$$ or up under the terminal manger desk you ain't gonna get much of anything not a good place for a hard worker and when it gets slow you can look at a average of 300-400 miles a night and sitting and waiting going threw a terminal you gotta give them the first hour and 15 min keep that in mind and at the motel if you get put to bed say at 2am and that terminal close out ain't tl 10pm you sit there on your time not getting paid there are some UPS like nice trucks and a lot of downs I named a few now if your a hard worker and wana make money and get paid delay time and other pay for what you do and you wana run big miles then check out Old dominion. Or Holland which Holland's starting pay is a little below average you get paid for everything even sitting in a motel and can look to gross 1500+ a week there just like at old dominion I can show u my pay stubs over here at Holland
 
2000 miles a week that is a joke try about 1600. This place is a joke now been here over 15 years. They want you to sit and wait for hours then at 3 o'clock in the morning give you 300 to 400 miles to drive. What a joke.

I know what you mean I was there for 8 years kinda glad what happen did happen for me so could experience a real freight company that runs there extra board drivers into the ground if you don't make any money here at Holland that's your own fault but southeastern use to be good till it turned in to a numbers game and 90% of there employees are brain washed and don't know nothing
 
I can only speak for the drivers I know. Many short nights at this time of year for sure. Holland would not be the first choice I would recommend someone to get on with. YRC is running a once great company like Holland into the ground. SEFL is not perfect either for sure. It really comes down to what a person wants and the individual terminal as far as schedule. Some terminals don't have all week gone system runs some do.

Holland ain't as bad as some of y'all think but you are right what ever is good for that guy that's the route he should chose and not to down sefl but it ain't my #1 choice to recommend to somebody after being there 8 years and at Holland going on 3 and after sefl brought in TLI and TOTAL to haul freight that was the kicker and when Tobin and David and Rick was asked about it quote if you can't feed your kids why in the heck are we feeding the neighbor's kids and there response was we are getting rid of them and that was 6 year's ago or so and they still have them guys hauling there freight and a good friend of mine the past 3 weeks ain't been averaging 1800 miles a week
 
To sum it all up I got 3 offers all in the span of a week(Con way ,Saia, and Southeastern). With a little research and some inside help I was able to eliminate con way from the list, but having a little trouble deciding between the other two. Pay and benefits seem to run neck and neck but for some reason I'm having trouble making a decision. Saia guys are tellng me they're getting 2500+ miles a week and are home everyday some weeks, just wondering if Southeastern can offer the same.

Dude I'm telling you sefl ain't gonna be a guarantee on miles its to big of UPS and DOWNS over there and any time a freight company has outsourced its line haul freight its not a good thing for the company drivers for a regional company like that now if it was UPS Estes r@l nationwide carriers they can still supply there drivers with work but not a regional carrier like SOUTHEASTERN and I do believe SAIA has a mileage guarantee or the use too and on your short week running system was 2500 miles leaving out on Monday back to your home terminal on Saturday and on your long week it was 3000 miles that was leaving out on Sunday return on Saturday and if you didn't get the miles they still paid out the difference here is another thing you need to look at when talking about SEFL you need to base your pay on 2,000 miles a week and that's it at 56 cent a mile road drivers there do not work the dock and cannot get any extra work as far as helping on the dock so figure it up 2000 miles a week at 56 cent a mile with no clock time and it sucks sitting in a motel from 3am till 10pm that night not getting paid so I'd pick saia and see if they still have that mileage guarantee

And southeastern will get you home every other day if your on a 3/2 or 2.5 o and I forgot to mention which that termi,al manger at southeastern want tell you they run team trucks down there and you being bottom man you could get forced on a team run and don't let them fool you it has happen in the past and them saia guys if they run system they may get home a few times during the week now because its slow time of year but here in a few weeks or so ask them same guys if there still getting at home during the week that is if they run system
 
Ok.. I hear what you're saying, and the terminal manager in Atl south did mention about the outsourcing of freight(mainly Florida) and I that did kinda raise a red flag being that they only do a few states, and he did also mention about being asked to run on a team truck too, but said it was rare- but if he mentioned it, probably not as rare as he says. Circlejerk do appreciate all your help, and all you other guys too. I think I might have made my choice.

No problem guy I'm here to help I can tell you all the bad and all the good but its up to you to go from there but that out sourcing mess is for the dogs the been saying for years they was gonna get rid of that but they still have them starving there kids and feeding the neighbor's I think SAIA will be a good fit I'm trying to,get on my self but my situation is a little different even though I love working at Holland they don't allow transfers like SAIA does wish you the best of luck sir
 
If your going to be out of the south Atlanta that's a good place to be for any freight company. I drive for Pyle now but I was always going through there when I was with SEFL. Best of luck.
