Fair enough. In that case we should start with the basics:

" Labor Unions are a critical part of Capitalism. Part of the "balance of power", which is necessary to keep overly powerful employers in check. How can you deny the right of the people to come together, to influence (negotiate) the terms of their employment. Corporations themselves are groups of people who come together to accomplish what an individual could not. Same with labor Unions, employees coming together to accomplish what the individual could not. This IS Capitalism." S.Ratt

For full-time employees in the UPS/IBT pension
plan, the following enhancements will be implemented:
Effective 1/1/2014:
• After 35 years and any age, retirement
Benefits will be $3,700 per month (up from
$3,500)
• 30 or more years and any age will increase
to $3,200 per month plus $100/yr of service
up to $3700 (up from $3,000)
Effective 1/1/2017:
• 35 years, any age will be $3,900 per month
• 30 years at any age will be $3,400 per
month plus $100/yr of service up to $3,900.

The return on investment is quite high in the LTL industry, when considering a dues rate of 2 1/2 hour per month and what Teamsters benefits look like, including:
Premium health insurance at at bargain price
Top notch retiree health insurance at minimal cost.
Pension that doesn't require working till 70 yrs of age.

Disclaimer: I realize FedEx' plan doesn't "require" working till 70, but at this early stage in the plan, is does encourage it.

We have taken yet ANOTHER pay cut through our benefits, anyone noticed how the copays of a lot of prescriptions have gone up from last month and the years before? Once again, a company making record profit has to take away from those who made it possible, go figure.

To follow SwampRatt's theme I will toss this out there. Lets examine the health insurance we are not allowed to have but some FedEx employees enjoy. Also take note of the Cadillac buy up cost on the last page as it can be had for the same price as our low cost option now.

Those are GREAT plans. Plans that very closely mirror Union plans... Hmmm...

Interesting. Not only is coverage Top Tier, the costs are very reasonable. They still offer Employee & Spouse, without requiring the family plan, just to get the spouse covered.

To call those options "far superior" to FXFE drivers' plans would be the understatement of the year/decade. :notworthy:

Let me clarify this, the plan you are seeing is for employees that had Company paid health care, (Fulltime and part time employees) that did not have UNION HEALTH CARE. this contract they put all those employees into a a fund called Teamcare.... this from what i understand sucks.

Yeah, it really LOOKS like it sucks (Both Teamcare & UPS plan). I'm glad we don't have low deductibles and minimal co-pays. I just don't think I could deal with that. I would be personally offended, if I were offered such a plan. I like my $2250 individual/$4500 family deductible, 70/30 plan.

Like the plan that some of the FedEx employees are forced to have above. What gives them the right to charge a $50 copay and then cover 100% for outpatient surgery. And the inpatient hospital care with 100% coverage after you endure a $150 copay just for a semiprivate room is just cruel.
