Question for Welch & Hoffa , which would be cheaper for the company , paying us to retire or paying out the work comp. to drivers ??? right now work comp. claims is super high at ALL of the companies !!!! this plan of keep raising the pension age & cutting our pension , does not look like it's working ???

I am sure that if you look at the workers comp cost before the first MOU (where road drivers were to do their own drop and hooks, etc) there was a major difference. Just proof this management looking at the hood of the truck instead of getting the Big Picture!

You do realize that neither Hoffa or Welch control retirement age OR benefit level. Just sayin'......
Do some math. Millions MORE for retirement.
Would if we set a day in say April , and anyone over age 50, we will all have OJI's ???? Legit ament of course$$$$Then just stay on comp till we hit 65!!!!!

1st off ,I have to disagree with you on that Hoffa does not control the retirement age or benefit's , he is the president of the union and has the power to make changes !! and can't do the math as I don't have the numbers for both work comp and pension costs , but point here is with them keep raising the retirement age , what do they think will happen to the work comp claims numbers ??? and yes Hoffa could make changes if he really cared about is guys !!!!

Why do you think road drivers get hurt dropping and hooking? P and d, shuttle, and yard are doing the same job?

Hoffa don't have nothing to do with control of the pension:heykoolaid: :hilarious:
The union wanted to reach an agreement by today to allow for member voting before Jan. 1, when federal legislation approved last year to shore up underfunded pension plans takes effect. UPS's withdrawal must be approved by the pension plan's trustees.

Wongway, the International whether it's Hoffa or anyone else has NO say or control of pensions. And brother that's not policy, that's Federal law. The Trustees of any fund are, if they represent the contributing employers are appointed. Elected if they represent the Union. FYI, there are some funds which cover YRCW employees that may not have ANY YRCW Trustees. Any changes must be approved by the Trustees of the fund in question! And ceding control to the International IS THE ONLY way any President of the International would gain control. The President of the International cannot seize control!

Ok , thanks for your inputs on who is in control of the pension , but thinking it was Zollars & Welch & Hoffa that come up with the good idea of not paying into it for a few years and now paying just 25% into it ??? when they have the money to pay out these big BONUSES to themselves ??? point is IF they got money for a BONUS they got money to pay in 100% to pension !!!! and so here is where HOFFA needs step in and say something about it ??? RIGHT ???? so in my opinion Hoffa & Welch could step up to the plate and say ,OK lets take the BONUS payments and put them into the pension fund !!!! and YES this is only MY opinion and respect your opinion on this too. Have a Good Day .

I don't completely disagree (Welch wasn't around for the original 15%). But realistically, paying annual bonuses to senior management is a far cry from paying WEEKLY pension contributions. 20,000 Teamsters X (Approximately) $200 = $4,000,000/week. And that my friend is a VERY conservative estimate. Clearly there is a significant shortfall!

YRCW got what they deserve.. They are making it harder and harder for people to retire.. Guys are working longer and longer.. How many are working their 60 hours just so they can get a livable paycheck.. This P&D work and also the road work takes a terrible toll on the body.. Most of the injuries are to guys over 50.That's when IMO the body starts breaking down.. I personally wanted to go at 62 but because of YRCW and changes to the pension I had to stay until I was 65.. Between 62 and 65,both shoulders blew out and now a bad hip and knee.. Three shoulder surgeries and almost two years of physical therapy.. Cost them a few coins.. And then they have the audacity to bi*ch about it.. LTL trucking is a hard physical business.. They know this and that is why they are always showing video's.. If I had to do it all over I would have gone to school.. And that is what I tried to tell my kids..

Hoffa may not have much say so on the running of the pension but he did on who contributes to it‼️Got to take care of his buddies at UPS at the expense of everybody else‼️If you can't see it yet take a look at the cuts that are coming with a special deal for Brown‼️

What you're referring to demonstrates the political influence (lobby $$$$$) that UPS has. Not anything Hoffa had the power to defeat amend!

Alvin the exit of UPS from CSPF was negotiated during contract talks‼️
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced last night that it had reached a tentative five-year contract with the United Parcel Service that calls for sweeping changes in the pension plan for many workers.

Under the accord, which covers 238,000 drivers and other workers, U.P.S. would be allowed to withdraw from the Central States pension plan, which was notorious for corruption in the 1960s and 1970s, but is now known for being underfunded.

Give credit where due . Make sure you send this to Bill Zollars too. He got the ball rolling on this !!!!!

Actually pension contributions should be at 400 a week now....20,000 x 400...8 mil a week..... heck over here at UPS they will be putting in 600 a WEEK towards the pension by the end of the contract! 2,400 in contributions a month to get out 3,300 a month if you retire with 30....what a joke.
