ODFL | OD trucks pulling ABF trailers?

In my time at OD I've pulled ABF,YRC,Estes and CT trailers from the west, usually to balance trailer pool.Benefits both companies other outfit gets their trailers moved back east,OD is able to pool pups at western terminals for expected freight surges.

We moved 20 or so vans for Yellow to the mid west. Works out great for both sides. They don't pull empties and it evens out our pup pool.

Several yrs back we pull'd alot Of ABF's new trailer back here for them. They would pull some OD 's too.We all just one big happy family. We do alot of ABF UPack moves around here.If they don't have manpower or equipment we will get it.Set up thru UPack..

I just got into the LTL world after 16 years OTR. But it does seem there is alot of incestuous relationships between companys.

I work for Saia and I see a lot of UPS freight crossing our docks.

You guys should start the rumor that "ABF is selling out to OD" It was always in the works that's why both company's have green trucks.

rumors are for high school cheerleaders and the otr steering wheel holders at truck stops... as for ups freight; well they do "LOGISTICS"... look for old dominion, schneider, menlo, fed ex... all do some sort of warehousing and logistics... besides that, O.D. would not want all the baggage due to the yellow corporation..

Wasn't talking to you...old school is respect, old school teaches not pokes at new hands. Old school is professional.
apparently you WAS... most ltl people are very soft... was a driver trainer for 5 companies song... this is so P.C. 16 years at otr, is not "new hand" their are slight variations in trucking, LTL is the easiest form.(except conway) I was neither rude or mean to him,nor did I intend to be.. thank you for your rant on old school.... i'll have remember that when more old school drivers are complaining about air seat not working or the ac doesn't blow cold enough for them... GO TEAM O.D. !!! (as long as feelings don't get hurt)

Ok, then I will start the rumor, ABF, bought out OD, because they wanted to expand the union and save the pension system. The biggest reason was to get the best drivers available. This way we actually buy the drivers and do not have to interview them or train them. I know you are all going to be happy that ABF, OD ( Old Dominionized ). I know this to be true, because I heard they were pulling ABF trailers. :hide::highly amused:

First off its "apparently you WERE" not WAS... Second, no I was not speaking to you, my first comment was originally directed at beingpissedon, that's who I quoted. Yes the old school comment was directed at you. I've only been driving for 10 years myself, but I've been around trucking all my life. Most all I've learned came from my old man, and he's as old school as you get. One of the things he taught me applies to life a well as trucking... You don't open your mouth until you know what you're talking about. If I've offended or struck a nerve with you I apologize. It appears I have.

Welcome to Truckingboards. Where you'll discover UPS and FedEx are in secret discussions about a union-busting merger. I know, because everyone seems to be talking about how FedUP they are! You heard it first, right here on TB!

Oh yeah, and YRC is eventually gonna buy out every carrier so they can be NUMBER ONE.
