On the road its all a big game to get your proper rest.If Im home I can mark back to start in 10,12,or 14 hrs. It helps control my start times and sleep patterns.If I get held out or have to lay some where extra long it screws it up.Running at night ,I can usually keep myself on schedule. If I get out of wack I either mark off (sick,vac,ato or run myself out of hours) The biggest problem is ato:If you run at night and get done in the A.M. you come back in the morning and vice versa. The company knows full well this screws up your sleep patterns and usually will say little if a guy runs long to take a nap.And if they do the answer is as simple as SAFETY.I dare them to tell me who is better at determining whether I can safely operate a vehicle,a member of management or myself.
