Taking the mystery out of driver pay

A sales rep wouldn’t want to work on 100% commission so why should drivers? That’s essentially what drivers are experiencing when freight gets slow and they find themselves unable to work as much as they want, having their pay, and in return, families suffer. We realized this that’s why we are taking the mystery out of driver pay providing our drivers with guaranteed based pay minimums depending on their level (ex. if they are a local driver, regional driver, etc.) so even if things get slow, they will be guaranteed a certain minimum pay level. Thoughts on this?

uh...no

if one is paid an hourly wage, so be it.

if one is paid a mileage pay, so be it.

if one is paid "modified salary" like me, so be it.

when things are slow, they are slow.

I don;t see factory workers getting paid when things slow down, they get laid off, till things pick up

so what you want to do, is bleed the company dry, for how many drivers they have, by how many days they are slow?

i see MANY LAY-OFF's with your plan!!!!!!!!

show me a trucking company owner that stays up at night worried if your going to have enough to pay your bills an retire on ?

and i will show you a retired ( members only ) truckers country club

The food service industry has this type of pay. Delivery drivers are paid by the mile, piece, stop and day. My company has a minimum daily pay, just in case your route doesn't pay enough.

There are nowadays, TOO MANY LAZY SLOB DRIVERS that, as it glaringly appears, want to be paid to sit still or paid to stay home, like the many, as have been well documented, section 8 folk, from where have and will come some truck drivers.

Small Companies, I am with one, are not now able to afford such and would simply shut their doors.
When I am local (which is very, VERY random), I am paid hourly and I lose the $59.00 per day O.T.R. Per Diem, so a "guaranteed minimum pay" is not afforded or offered.
My "guaranteed minimum pay" is calculated at 1) When I'm running the roads, I can figure it up. B) when I'm at home, no figures are up.

roadscholar88,

NOT a good idea, BUT, IF, somehow, you are able to locate a Trucking company that will allow such "idea" to be implemented, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO INFORM WE OF TRUCKINGBOARDS!!

CHEERS!!
