As im sitting here thinking about how im going to get f-ed on the next bid, i had a thought. What do you all think the best hub to transfer to would be? I dont care about climate but I would say im not a big fan of the south. Just thinking about miles and the ability to work more than the 6 hrs a night that i currently do. Ideas?

Without really knowing where you are at currently I'm gonna say look at Chicago. You will go to the bottom of the board no matter where you transfer so keep that in mind.

Not sure what you mean by SOH but seriously Chicago would be a great place to make a transfer I would think. I'm in Cleveland (working for Parcel) and would go to Chicago if my wife finishes school. Louisville would be great as well.

SOH (south Holland) is the hub in the chicago area.....I am already working in the area that is by SOH. Wondering if there are some better run places because it a s***hole

WOW!! I figured you guys in South Holland would be crazy busy but after seeing the first post I'm surprised with only six hours a night that sucks. Were slow where I'm at right now as well. Cleveland or Richfield OH for UPS Freight might be a good area. What sucks is this company keeps us separate from each other so neither side knows whats going on with the other. That really needs to change. Hopefully some others can post about there terminals for you.

Im not at SOH but they are indeed busy. At the outlying terminals, it sucks to be a road driver at because everything goes to soh.....I guess thats probably always the case in a hub/spoke system

I'd make sure it's a hub barn.
HRS, GAF , SLC, are a few of the bigger ones, I think Kansas may be a hub as well but not sure.
I'm out of HRS and we've been busy most of the Winter when normally it's the slow season.

I think the spokes are better than hubs. Just depends on where you are I guess.

Also on what you do I guess, you can make over 70k a year on the dock, yard and city at hrs if you want the hours.
The road board is pretty over staffed right now, but in the next 5 or so years there's going to be 25+ guys at the top retiring.

Stay out of CMS unless you want to be a dock/jockey/local cartage.....for the guys at the bottom of the road or ad-hock boards...it's starvation station.
