They may not have changed the name to CF but they sure did recreate the company

I think they had it all planned when they sold Freightliner, it was to start a non-union side, they did it on purpose in my humble opinion.

I am glad.......... :smilie_132:

I can't believe you would say that. You are probably one of those drivers who will not flash the lights to let his fellow driver know he is clear. I don't want to see anyone lose their job. What happened to the CF people was criminal and now ccx changed their name to cf. What a joke. Cf had first rate people all around.

When you get fired from your job please let us all know.

We will all be glad.......:smilie_132:

I'm old school CONWAY no matter how you say it,or how you spell it it was stolen grabbed from the heart's of the men & women who put there sweet & blood at time's into workin at CONSOLIDATED FRIEGHTWAY'S FOR ALL THOSE YEAR'S. Those people got the shaft from big business and the poltician's.

Brutus, my young freind, you are the young bull, and I am the old bull. You know the joke. Please go to page 2 post 20 and page 6 post 51 and read what I have said before on this thread. You know that I am an employee of con-way and that some people and myself are still fighting corporate america so to speak. If you still have your 2004 annual report you will read in it what my freinds and myself did with the menlo deal and why seven directors left in a period of one year. I can not get into the facts and I hope you understand. As said before on the con-way board as with this cf board, history will repeat itself if people let it happen. Try to get the book '' NEVER STAND STILL'' and compare it side by side with the history of con-way. This is not just a job as you have posted in your reply and we and they are getting on with our lives. But I for one had many many freinds that worked for cf and have many freind that work for con-way and I will not stand by and watch history happen again. Sorry my freind for getting long winded but I am not in this just for me, the way I look at it, it is we we we. My last comment is that you thought I was in management, no just a l/h driver like you. Peace.

dam people it's was just a job.
let it go already and get on with your life.
It was more than just a job. I bled red and green like so many. It sounds stupid when you hear it. I will never bleed colors again. I learned my lesson. We at cf were a big family and on a team run you could go coast to coast and all the people were good people. ccx has quality people too. I worked there for a year, It was just not for me..so i moved on...Brutus, i know you have been at con way a long time and i think you know what I am saying. I would never hold grudges to the drivers at ccx. They are hard workers.

Brutus, with all due respect, It was a lot more than just a job for a lot of people. It was friendships and family for many people. Myself included.
I think the biggest kick in the butt to any long time CF employee is the way the whole thing happened. What Consolidated Freightways Inc/ CNF Inc did to CF was WRONG.
They sacrificed the livelihoods of 15,000 employees in the name of profits and ego

no trucker4cf i have only been with con-way for short time.
as i see it if con-way were to close there doors tomorrow no big deal to me I'll just go down the street to FedEx or ups freight.it just a job just like any thing else I've done in my work history it's just a pay check to pay my bills.
as for con-way they are my employer and the people i work with are Friend and co-workers they are not my family that would be my wife and kids.as i said if Conway were to close so be it I'll just get a new job and make new Friends.
and i do agree the way it all came down was wrong.

Lawofone, trucker4cf,CFer, and others who worked for CF:

I never worked for them, but in my 35 years of driving linehaul for different carriers CF was admired by more than you will ever know. In the early 70's I was sitting one night on top of Lookout Pass headed east in the middle of winter. It was my first time with a set of doubles, the road was a sheet of ice, and trucks heading down the hill into Montana where all over the hill. A CF came up behind me and as he started over he hollered at me on the radio and asked what in the hell was I doing sitting there? I told him it didnt look good to me and he said,"Come on out in the middle with me son and we will go down this thing together. "Away I went and we went down the median, as there was no jersey barrier between the lanes then, it was solid concrete all the way across. The state had plowed all the snow in the middle and you had to run the throttle to get down the hill. Needless to say when we got to St. Regis he bought me a cup of coffee and welcomed me into the world of runnin doubles in the winter. I will never forget his kindness, and most of all I will never forget the men and women of CF who in there own way made a great company the envy of the rest of us!

Thank you CF drivers!

thank you Saddletramp for sharing your memories. Thats what life is about, helping others.

They will be judged after their death and the justification it was lawfull will not hold water.

I will never forget the time me and my partner switched in chicago going out to salt lake. Neither one of us looked at the trailer number in chicago, when we got to salt lake they told us we had the wrong set of trailers. We felt bad about it. Every body laughed at us. From there we went out to sacramento, across donner. My partner said he sure had a hard time putting those chains on the steers. I woke up and we were lodged in the side of a mountain.
They called us the kellog team. the kellog cornflake team...
I wonder where my partner is now?
