FedEx Freight | Big raise on its way, but only for some..

I have no problem with the added money going to centers in the LA basin or San Jose, San Francisco, NYC...Where the cost of living is astronomical, but I fear it goes much deeper than this.
 
I'm making the best money that I have ever made in my life, but that's not enough because someone else is making more. I don't get it. This cense of Entitlement is crazy to me.....Racer

Really? Some of you are such company yes men that you'll accept being paid less than the person sitting next to you doing the same thing. This sense of Brain Damage is crazy to me.....Whooooo!

You likely work at a more competitive location. Have you factored in inflation? I'm all for high cost of living locations receiving a premium. Most do not like working for significantly less that the competition. Certainly not on a permanent basis.

Simple cost of living calculators show that there is no parity in wages throughout the company. Some locations are competitive, some are not.

Sense of entitlement? Really? Superior performance should equate to superior returns. At a minimum compensation should be on par with lesser carriers, IMHO.
 
FedEx believes that because they're the biggest, they can afford to pay less because they have more people to go around. Think about how often the red shirts are moved around to do different red shirt jobs at some centers. They figure if he quits, they'll find someone else. And that's how they feel about EVERYONE. After all, only an idiot wouldn't wanna work at FedEx.

Let me guess your a road driver? Your right I will be a millionaire soon. On a 40 hour week I bring home 150 more than folks on unemployment yep im rolling in cash can't wait to retire so I can have welfare retirement from a company I worked 35 years for.

They have taken back every raise you received for the last 5-6 years, cheapen your health care. Then the guy who was in charge when all this happen walks off with a massive bonus. They took the bread off your table and put it on theirs, and your OK with that. Its not entitlement YOU worked for it.
 
The new Pres taking up the issue of the pay difference was a mistake. Why say that the issue wound be addressed if it was not across the board. This just gives ammunition for anyone with an ax to grind. I do not give a crap about some possible pay increase, but it is insulting to say we do not get a raise because our neighbors do not make enough.

None of that has anything to do with their logic, I am certain. I've been snooping around a little and found that centers with lower costs of living got the adjustment, while many (mine included) with higher cost, did not. Also centers with little or no difference in costs are operating under different scales (differentials, in FedEx lingo).

I do appreciate Hohum sharing some of the centers who did get the "well deserved" bump. I would love to put together the whole list for analysis.

We will talk more about this one...
 
FXF brings in more revenue than any other LTL carrier but is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to compensation to employees. Where they are financially, the pay scale should be higher than UPSF.
They don't want a union to come in and break down their balance sheets and negotiate fair wage contracts for the employees. Execs sure as hell won't starve. They'll still live lavishly. But, it's the more for me less for you mentality here, just like with most of corporate America.
 
Not sure what kind of measurement they used. I know they always have used a 3rd party to provide them with figures. That party should be fired.

I can assure you they DID NOT use the wages of the competition, nor did they use ANY cost of living calculator that I can find.

My center does NOT qualify for ANY adjustment. We are not a candidate, despite the numbers. These are local numbers that are just fine with "my company". Right there where we should be. JUST RIGHT!

UPSF: $27.15
Conway: $25.48
Old Dominion: $24.95
Southeastern: $24.48 *NOTE this number is going up due t recently announced raise.
Estes: $24.xx
FedEx Freight: $23.68
Averritt: Less than FedExFrt.

Beyond that, I'm biting my tongue, rather than say something (in such a way) that I might regret.

Don't forget Saia that is getting a raise to almost $25 and hour. Small Dayton freight is at $25 or so an hour. It goes on and on.

While it was clearly NOT fixed across the board, apparently it was addressed. If you did not get the adjustment, it is because FedEx deemed your center to not be in need of it. Your compensation is perfectly fine like it is, per your company. You are worth exactly what you get now. But based on what criteria?

YOU KNOWWHAT IF THEY HAD GIVEN EVERYTHING CENTER THIS TYPE A RAISE THERE WOULD STILL BE A PROBLEM IT EITHER WOULD NOT BEEN ENOUGH OR YOU GUYS WOULD BE SWEARING UP AND DOWN THEIR HIKING UP OUR INSURANCE... Pat Reed sit there and told us they would be stupid not to improve our benefits package well guess what we havent seen a thing. You need to go crawl back under the managers desk.

What is crazy to me is the one's that really hate this place, still work at this place. Not everyone will be happy but if the company down the street is making more than you. The gate is wide open to leave, Guarantee the man or woman below would like to move up. Fedex is far from the best company I've ever worked for but I'm not looking to leave. Not with the money or benefits that I have at this time. Every company has it's down falls and it just seams that some want a perfect company. That's just does not exist. If you can do better for yourself and family go where you got to go and be happy with the choice made

I have seen change's being made some good some not so good. Make this a better place ? Fedex will do what and when Fedex wants to. Not any employee is going to change the way Fedex goes about what they believe is best for business
 
Oh great another driver who has their head stuck in clouds. First of all we have a declining benefits package but the company is producing record numbers. Alot of people have been here along time so why should we go down the road we have made this place the number 1 ltl. I just don't understand people not being able to see our declining benefits package and just going along with getting screwed year in and year out. I mean where did you guys come from Central Transport?

Well when you lie directly to a group of employees that are getting ready to vote on union you tend to loose the trust of those employees. Change is coming just wait and see they opened a can of worms.
