First and foremost is like to thank everyone who answered my questions regarding job descriptions and which jobs were union and which weren't.

Which leads me to my next series of questions. I've found several union job postings for road drivers in South Carolina. And I spoke with the Business Agent that handles every UPS Freight terminal in the state. Originally, I was interested in a Charleston position, but the BA said they aren't a very busy terminal, with a total of 4 road drivers right now. He said they're either busy or they aren't. Also, to beware that the Carolina Supplement stipulates that if you're in the bottom 10% of employees, they won't guarantee even your 8 hours.

Having said all of that, are there any SC drivers that may be able to tell me which of the terminals are the busiest? If there are a lot of layoffs? Should I just hold out for a full time road driver job in Charlotte, NC, which seems to be the trucking mecca of the the southeast? I know it's a lot of questions, but I'd like to be prepared before I move my family from New England...

Thanks in advance for any input.

Stay away from Gaffney terminal. We had a guy leave Holland for UPS and they only worked him a hand full of days in a month. He has since resigned.
