Holland | medical insurance?

Also, the reason it seems freight gets such a huge increase at the end of the progression is because in the new contract we don't get any cost of living raises at anytime during the progression. We get all yearly increases with the very last step of the progression, if that makes since. However, once you finish the progression you will then receive the yearly wage increase each year.

The reason freight pays so low the first three years and it changed to a 4 year progression is because no one cares,it didn't affect the people that voted on it.They got theirs.

True but do you see what I'm saying about not getting any cost of living until the last year?

You are really full of yourself aren't you.You must have been one of the few elite members of the YRCW team that could hack it at ups.I still do pull ups,push-ups and run two miles in 17 minutes.I see guys at parcel that couldn't run a hundred yards.
Besides from the physical aspect, there is a ton more experience at YRCW and many of the best drivers in the industry.
If you are referring to the work rules anyone can adapt.Trust me,if you can do it they can do it.Im not trying to be an ass, just keeping it real.

What do you mean there's more experience at yrc? At yrc you dont even have to build/break your own sets.....most of the time. At ups you have to build/break your sets in a certain amount of time that you're allowed. Even routes are all broken down when you should be departing arrival etc. If you're late you usually have to answer to a supervisor and if your late with a hot load there are some seriously pissed off people you have to answer to.
YRC is definitely more easy going.

Everyone knows it's more easy going.Ups pays top pay in the industry and when you are on the clock they own you.Do you really think that y'all are the gifted , most talented, most experienced drivers because you work for ups, build your own sets and are expected to work while you are on the clock?
It may not be linehaul building their boxes at Yrcf but,it sure ain't management.I assure you most every single YRCW linehaul driver can build sets as well as ups drivers.Come on guys,we all do the same thing, the only thing special about you guys is the pay.

Im not saying no one at yrc cant do it. My point is a newbie would have a lot harder time at ups or upsf than yrc, and that was in regards to your comment.

[Qwouldn't want to work at UPS . Who needs that kind of stress ? Money ain't everything brotha !eTrucker, post: 924208, member: 32055"]What do you mean there's more experience at yrc? I've worked at both and I can tell you that yrc/ holland has a lot more experienced drivers as a whole. It's a tough start out at ups freight and as such it attracts many inexperienced drivers as far as I can see. Ups feeders wow don't even get me started on that , he'll you need to work there a hundred years before you can even bid on that job (in most cases). Having said all this most old timers at yrc/holland either wouldn't want to work at ups or couldn't deal with it, this is not an attack on these people its just the way I see it. No yrc/holland management would last a second at ups!

Talked to a package driver Thursday, he knocked down 99k last year. They don't hire full time off the street here or I would have been gone.Even if we were at top pay ups parcel
Is still a much better job.32/ hr is awesome.
What state are you in? Did you start full time?
I got hired in Illinois last summer when they put on about 150 guys off the street full time feeder. They do hire off the street....you just have to keep an eye on their job site. Another buddy of mine from JO just got hired last week....the ad was up and back down in 1 day....I know in my class of 12 guys we had 5 Yrc/Holland drivers....the class before ours had 10 out of 12 Yrc/Holland guys....8 of those were from Wh term I believe. Ups has no problem hiring Yrc/Holland people. Feeder drivers can make quite a bit more than package drivers.....there's alot of other very good paying gigs out there....just gotta keep checking their web sites.Good luck man

Thanks, and congratulations on your new gig.The busisness agent will let me know if they hire off the street, they are chincy with it here.Freight will hire off the street but,I would prefer package.

Can I get clarity on the dental? Two free cleanings per year. What is the annual maximum amount the plan will pay? What percentage does it pay on major work, like crowns, root canals and dental implants?

So I've been with Holland 3 1/2 months, while i think the insurance is good, however, I'm having a helluva time actually getting coverage. Holland tells me I should've had insurance 4/18 but the local is telling me 6/1 and Central states is telling me 5/18 (possibly as late as 6/18). Hell I just want insurance, no one (and I mean no one) can give me a definitive answer as to when my insurance will be active. In fact looking on central states website, it says I was terminated 3/28, which is kinda funny being I ran over 3k mileS last week.

It should be 60 days after your probation is up. If central states says your were terminated on that date make a copy of pay stub fax it to them. Then you will have to hound the ::shit:: out of them cry that you have serious need for doctors care asap. It worked for me I went through the same thing when I first started.

apparently that's easier said than done! I've called "Jeff" in LH payroll and he's been VERY helpful, he's called these people 3 times this week for me and they keep telling him it's been fixed, but I still don't have coverage. And BTW I have a serious NEED for insurance, wife is 8 months pregnant and I have a 4 yr old with epilepsy, and his medicine alone is $1200.00 out of pocket for me right now

Damm man I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe your local BA can help you out. Mines assistant helped me Out. Crying shame we have top notch health care and it's a difficult process to get enrolled.

We were told that it is 9 Sunday's after you receive the

Not happy to hear all of that. I was told by the union hall that it was 9 Sundays after the hire date (when we receive a white paper)

Paying for our own private insurance coverage (which is why we need this oh so good insurance), It goes month to month. In other words, if we get insurance on July 15th, I still have to pay my private insurance July's payment or decide to roll the dice and not be covered for the first 15 days. Based on what you're saying, there is too much uncertainty on the effective date to take a chance.

Our Private insurance, have to pay $6,000 before insurance kicks in, is a piece of crap. I rolled the dice and decided not to pay $3000 for a CT Scan a year or so ago. So far, so good. Symptoms went away, but you never know. Nobody has done anything to address the cost side of medical care and many people will end up dying because they can't or won't spend the money for these expensive tests.

I left Holland after 18.5yrs went to UPS package and I don't know where all the stories or rumors come from that they own you and constantly on you but it's further from truth. Nobody says a word to you as long as your doing your job it the are delays they ask you send a message so they can relay possible late load times. I've had runs I've done in 5hrs got to go home and get paid for full day.

FINALLY got my insurance Sunday, but they didn't my two oldest on the prescription plan. HOPEFULLY after my wife's rant and rave to the man on the phone, things are right.
