Yellow | Smith System Safety Training

Why would you let anyone but a super give you work orders?
I will take suggestions and help anyone that needs it but when someone actually tells me what to do.....?...... I know what to do. I don't.... We don't need more people doing that. Tell em to F off and get a real job.
We don't but then shortly thereafter the boss comes and tells you the same thing. You do the math!

Bart, do you mean that he would actually rat you out to the dispatchers? I always thought that he was shady, but if he is a rat, why is he always at the union meetings?

Maybe trying to cover his own tracks.

I am at a small barn. Just do what you have to without instructions... Or don't. The way it is. Bigger barns would be a problem. I can see that.
Math is done but still not gonna take orders from someone who is supposed to do it himself or someone who is just a worker bee like me.
Power.... Ever so small to non existent goes to the smallest minds.

Really!!! If a job is up for bid you must be qualified to bid on it (that's in the contract too) I don't care if you're name is Smith and you teach the class now the only requirement is how much suction you have!!
Right now at 511 we have a man that doesn't work like the rest of us pops 20+ hours a week OT and walks around trying to tell other Teamsters what to do! Now he wants to hook his buddies up on the Smith and they are not qualified yet!
Spin it anyway you want seniority is the only thing left so why don't we **** that off too!!!,!

Yes Really!... From the content of your post you sound like your jealous of the Trainers.....and that you were not selected.... Perhaps not...but that is the way you come across.... Spin it anyway you want...but a Trainer position is never going to be bid according to senority and rightfully so...
A senoir driver bidding onto a Trainer opening does not automatically give that person credibility nor qualifacations....the qualities needed to be successful as a trainer are usually something that cannot be "trained" into someone.... Some people just dont have the personality or other needed traits needed to be effective... I've known several people who desperately wanted a Trainers position that had a lot of senority...but they would have made very poor trainers...the only ones that couldn't see that were themselves... You come across as one of those types judging from your posts....again I may be wrong, as I don't personally know you, however that would be my guess on the matter...

You dont like the idea of a teamster as a trainer......I would bet you'd equally be as resentful if Management conducted the course because they "dont know how to drive a truck so who do think they are to tell me how to drive".... You would only be "happy" if you were the one chosen.... Of course you'll deny that.... It's expected....

Believe me I've heard it all and there is nothing new that you could bring to the table on this matter.....

Insightful observation.

Anytime a Teamster trains, another Teamster works who otherwise would not.

Yep that's it you got it all figured out :regretful::hysterical:

I sense we may be heading in the same direction as did the 15 percent off your amended return ????????

Pilot, this guy did not BID into this "Trainer" position. He got it the same way he got everything else that he has........ Think KIRBY, DYSON or HOOVER.

The same way he got his wife some casual work in the office. Not by who he knows, but by who he blows (or SUCKS).

Before he was TRAINING, he was ORIENTING new hires. He holds a bid job, and works all the overtime that he wants. (Thankfully, he's been happy with only getting 20 hours of OT per week.)

Sad thing is this.... When the 511 head steward was fired (and off over 5 or so months) this now-trainer did not want to be an assistant steward any longer. Now that is what I call looking out for the men that he supposedly represents.

A YES MAN ALL THE WAY, nothing more, nothing less. Anything and everything that it takes to keep from moving freight.

rag-a-muffin, I know at Roadway Smith System training in many EOL terminals was done by trainers from the BB. It served 2 purposes. It saved money and eliminated local seniority violations.
