Yellow | FMCSA Places YRC Freight Into Mandatory Inspection Status!

Wow this totally blind sided me! Our equipment is the finest in the industry at 20 years old. Just broken in.

Road Steward from okc/531 in Albuquerque refused 3 trucks not safe Albuquerque dispatcher told him to go or he's fired pull it outside the gate calle thdutyed DOT said it was unsafe to drive YRC fired the road steward.
Linehaul manager should have been fired

Steward has a great case to get back on the job with back pay even if he loses in arbitration.

And i hope he goes after the dispatcher who ordered and threatened his job

NOW they want to talk about it?
It has NOTHING to do with the damn pre-trip or post trip......fix the :::shit::: when we write it up on the OD-199 and tell the shop supervisors to stop marking it ok and putting it back on the street. ....Yall know this happens.......get rid of the junk....stop putting the onus of the problem on the drivers!...KK

I have to agree, the Shop Foremen do pencil whip the write-ups in Hsbg. No ?, I have watched them do it. I've asked them if they were qualified to do so and they say, if it's not DOT, we can do it.

The question then becomes what exactly do they consider DOT or not DOT? If it's anything that a driver could be penalized for at an inspection then I would want it fixed before I head out.

I thought every YRC truck was supposed to be like that????

I hate seeing this for you all. The writing has been on the wall for a long time concerning this very issue . It's not like the D.O.T. didn't warn YRC and all who work there this was coming. This is one of the top 5 issues that made me come to the realization i need to find better employment. As far as losing money to get something fixed I for one will trade a half hour of my time for properly functioning equipment. At my new gig if I write anything up it is fixed immediately no arguing no nothing just fixed. I hope these drivers realize what the D.O.T. is about to do to them and YRC. Drivers need a motto like fix it or forget it, i flat out refuse to pull it. Good luck to you all.

time for Driver's to make copies of the dvr book write ups of repairs needs and mail them to the DOT and maybe hire a lawyer for a case action law of being forced to drive unsafe trucks , cause just remember it is your family and grand kids in cars on the same highway with these unsafe trucks .................................................

I looked through the more current violations under the Maintenance BASIC, and most of them should have been found in a pre/post trip inspection. That being said, yes, they should have been repaired before the unit(s) went on the road. The age of the fleet is also an issue, the older it gets, the more problems it develops (kind of like us!). As for refusing to take it out, drivers should be very careful here. If you have an OOS condition, there should be no way that truck leaves. However, if it is not an OOS defect, I would defer to your local agreements and past practices in whatever your local juristiction is. Always have the maintenance people sign off on something before you take it out.

I want to expand on this post of mine.
They will look at and evaluate everything on the 199. they will not fix the cruise , exhaust brake, air horn or clutch brake until the next pm.
I have a great deal of confidence and respect for Our Mechanics. I had a totally rebuilt converter today, new axle, brake drums, brake shoes and parts, springs, tires and painted wheels, lights and air lines all around.
They're trying, best they can. The tractor was also defect free.
