Just wondering if anyone has seen any positive developments inside the company of late? Same sad story where I'm located poor service and continual loss of business. Bill count continues to dwindle, lose accounts we've had for years and never get them back. I haven't seen management do anything positive to help the situation. Financials are only improving due to capacity constraints in the industry. Just looking for other opinions.

Never posted here before, but they are probably looking to buy the next victim, witch will be ABF,take their good freight, and turn them into a has been company. Yellow as been doing this for years, just to stay afloat. Preston, ect. I honestly believe that this is the plan to get rid of the union.. What will a master freight agreement mean,if nobody is still in business? Its all about shareholders. The good days, are really over for good....

You better put that crack pipe down boy! Can't you see that your fearless leaders are sucking this company dry before they finally pull the plug? Their struggling to keep the lights on and their going to buy another freight outfit! Have another sip of koolaid in between your pipe hits!

They're definitely interested in ABF but I don't think ABF is interested in them. You're right though imo, they are definitely looking for some kind of scam to keep this company afloat. I sit and watch them lose money every quarter, but nothing changes in operations. I think they've run the shrink to profitability into the ground, can't really shrink much more. We went from 600 bills of outbound to about 230 now. Maybe they could try hauling more frt for a change, but then again that would take more drivers and they certainly can't find any of them.

I am expecting major changes in the near future.I don't believe the leadership at the helm nor the investors are becoming complacent with the way the company is operating at any of its units.
If the top brass simply can't operate at a profit, you would think the investors would be looking for an immediate replacement.
It seems like the mid level management at the terminals have kinda lost their grip system wide.I personally believe that behind the scenes there are much bigger fish to fry.

I think you're right about sucking the company dry. Only thing I hear them talk about is investing in technology but we never see any improvement in service or for that matter the financials either. Seems to me they need to invest in things that will help move the frt, like people and equipment, but they may not really have any long term plans to keep this company going.

i agree that mgmt has lost their grip, but that's been the case ever since the merger. They lost what yellow did well and what roadway did well and have not been able to regain an identity for this company. Can you elaborate on what changes you see coming? I can't see them replacing Welch unless he just wants to retire

Where terminal do you work at?

I'd welcome some major changes as long as the first major one is stopping the micro management of every aspect of the operations by the people who have no idea how to run the terminal operations. I've seen and had enough of the numbers juggling game to fool the big bosses into thinking everything is running well. What ever happened to everyone making an honest effort in doing their jobs and getting the job done. The waste of resources and money is rampant and a lot of people we rely on to make good sound business decisions are not held accountable for said waste and poor decisions. It's high time someone in Overland Park started knuckling down and start getting rid of the people responsible for making asinine decisions that hamper or impede the flow of freight and getting it delivered to the paying customers in a timely fashion. As an example, why are we worried about getting 36 000# load factor on a 100 mile run and then running 6 empty trips after that. The chances of damaging freight and losing customers is huge. Skid the trailers out and get the freight to the break quicker and damage free, it's only 100 miles down the road for christs sake.

With Southeastern covering Kentucky I would imagine Holland will lose some freight also.

As far as me thinking there is going to be major changes,I'm just a dumb freight guy.My reason for thinking it though is,the track record when equity firms worth billions call the shots. The average CEO lasts only a couple years but,Welch didn't get us in this mess.I believe he came out of retirement to try and get us out of it.

As far as speculating on what may happen highead,I do have my thoughts but most wouldn't agree with me.

I used to raise hell at CF for doing the same asinine crap Doubleclutcher. They would literally break down skids, pro them with a Darby gun and cram a trailer full to go to chatanooga (about 100 miles north) and then run empties to Chatanooga right behind them.
Some of those pups would take 7 hours to break. Its hard to believe the same thing is being done today.

I dont believe they count mt's in their load factor, so thats why they cram the ones that do have frt. That is a great example, this company lacks common sense and everybody knows how to pencil whip the numbers. They need just one metric, making money, thats it.

only my opinion , but something seems to be a buzz with yrcw , kinda thinking something big is coming this year ??? so guess will wait and see ???

Running empties is not counted in load factor. Its equipment repositioning and I think it can be written off.

I realize that empty miles get pooled and split but why waste 4 hours cramming and jamming freight onto trailers for a 100 mile trip. We don't load directs because we have lost a lot of our freight and all our freight is funneled through 1 break. We used to run to 6 different breaks and had an enviable service that was hard to beat, now the freight we used to do overnight or 2 day lanes is gone because it now takes 2 days to get it 400 miles down the road. Load factor on a 100 mile run should not even be a consideration, run the freight to the bulk and have them load it direct. We might even get our inbound in a little earlier if they had to get outbound cleaned up.
